Two Wayne County students will find college a bit easier to afford this year thanks to scholarships awarded through the North Carolina 4-H program.
Rebecca Lee, 18, daughter of Greg and Tammy Lee of Goldsboro, won two scholarships, a $1,000 Lorna W. Langley Scholarship and a $500 Geraldine Kennedy Capps Scholarship. A 2003 home school graduate, Miss Lee is attending Meredith College in Raleigh.
Sarah Finch, 18, daughter of Derek and Anne Finch of Goldsboro, won two scholarships, a $600 Victoria Jean Cope Scholarship and a $750 4-H Development Fund Scholarship. A 2004 graduate of Maplewood Training Center, Miss Finch is attending Mount Olive College.
The 4-H program is conducted by North Carolina Cooperative Extension at North Carolina State and North Carolina A&T State universities.
Anthony Hall of Goldsboro has been inducted into the National Vocational and Technical Honor Society at Wilson Technical Community College. To qualify, Hall had to maintain a 3.5 grade point average on a 4.0 scale, complete at least 24 hours in a vocational program and be endorsed by the faculty and staff. Hall is majoring in electric and electronics technology.
