Duplin eateries receive awards

Duplin County Health Services has presented 15 food service establishments with the 2004 Food Service Recognition Award.
First presented in 2000 by Environmental Health Services, the plaque is awarded annually for outstanding sanitation practices. It is given to restaurants, meat markets and school cafeterias that maintain a 95 percent or better on their sanitation grades for one year.
To be eligible for the award, establishments must have been opened for one year and received at least four inspections. This year's recipients represent 8 percent of the total establishments graded quarterly by the Health Department this past year.
Nine of the 15 recipients this year have received the award in past years.
The plaque will be displayed for one year at the following establishments: Kenansville Elementary School, Rose Hill-Magnolia Elementary School, Andy's in Kenansville, Andy's in Wallace, Johnnie's Seafood, Wal-Mart Snack Bar, Wendy's, Beulaville Elementary School, James Kenan High School, Skate City, Warsaw Elementary, Country Corner, Duplin General Cafeteria, Warsaw Middle School and Wallace-Rose Hill High School.
