ALBERTSON -- The Albertson Community Library Corp. has raised nearly $30,000 toward a new library, says one of its members, Janice Grady.
"It's coming along," she said about the fund-raising campaign and the renovation work going on at the Peary Davis home at the intersection of N.C. Highways 903 and 111. The goal is to raise $160,000 for the building, renovations and books.
The group's first annual Jamboree and Stewfest in June raised $15,900, and donations are still coming in, says Mrs. Grady.
Naming rights to three of the library's six rooms are being sold. They're going for $7,500 to $10,000.
"The name of the library can be changed for $50,000," she said. The name is currently the Northeast Duplin Communities Library. For information or to give a donation, call Rose Jones at 252-569-1471 or Mrs. Grady at 252-568-3659.
