Larceny

Two people were arrested in connection with the theft of a $620 utility trailer from Tractor Supply on Cashwell Drive.

Clinton Kyle Butcher, 21, Beston Road, LaGrange, and Machelle DelaGarza, 24, Kelly Court, LaGrange, were charged with larceny and held in the Wayne County Jail under $1,500 bond each. They were allegedly found hooking up the trailer to a vehicle. The trailer had been chained up on the side of the business, and the chain had been cut.

Investigations

Wayne County law-enforcement officers are investigating these reports:

*A purse, wallet, driver's license, credit cards and checkbook were reported stolen Monday from a car after the front passenger side window was broken at the 100 block of Albert Drive. The owner, Lisa Ann Poland, estimated the property's value at $60.

*A generator and weedeater were reported stolen Monday after a barn was entered through a boarded up hole at the 100 block of Leaning Post Lane in LaGrange. The owner, Blaney Woodrow Hill of the 300 block of Country Day Road, estimated the property's value at $700.

*Cigarettes were stolen Tuesday after a vehicle was driven into glass doors at the Exxon-Friendly Mart at the 1400 block of N.C. 111 South. The property was valued at $186, and the damage to the doors was estimated at $3,000.

*A post hole-digger, pressure washer and bench table saw were reported stolen Monday after locks were removed from a residence at the 400 block of Mitchell Road in Dudley. The owner and resident, Marvin Steven McCoy, estimated the property's value at $900.

*Keven Christie Leukhardt of the 100 block of Hounds Run Drive reported Monday that someone used his Social Security number to obtain a computer. He estimated the property's value at $4,147.

*On Old Kenly Road, a $500 gray utility trailer was reported stolen from Lester Britt's back yard.

*An estimated $80 worth of video games were taken from a storage building on Pearlier Drive in Dudley. Police said they located a 14-year-old and 10-year-old. They were released to a guardian, and a juvenile petition was filed.

Goldsboro Police are investigating these reports:

*A bicycle, lawnmower, stereo system and a weedeater were reported stolen Monday after a lock was removed from a building at the 400 block of Jackson Street. The owner, Johnny Brown, estimated the property's value at $1,475.

*A hedge trimmer was reported stolen Monday after a glass door was broken with a brick at a vacant building at the 100 block of Center Street. The owner, Ernest Norman Mansour of the 1800 block of Evergreen Avenue, estimated the property's value at $60.

*A CD player was reported stolen Monday after the rear passenger side window was broken of a vehicle at the Future Financial Services at the 2500 block of Ash Street. The property's value was estimated at $250.

*Durwood Wiggins of the 1600 block of New Hope Road reported Monday that someone had taken his checks and forged them to obtain currency from a convenience store at the 1700 block of Slocumb Street and other places. The total value of the checks was estimated at $2,864.

*Lisa Renee King of the 2600 block of Cashwell Drive reported Monday that someone had taken her checks and debit card from her vehicle, used them and returned them. There were 30 withdrawals worth $846.48 and checks written for $111.61.

*Weedeaters, a blower, bicycles, lawn mower, ladders, clippers, sabersaw, gas container and golf clubs were reported stolen Monday after a garage was broken into at the 700 block of Mulberry Street. The owner, Philip Kantzer, estimated the property's value at $810.

Traffic accidents

*Damages were estimated at $5,800 on Aug. 4 on Parkstown Road at Beston Road, according to the state Highway Patrol. A vehicle driven by Shannon Antoinette Devaughn of the 100 block of Walden Place in LaGrange was charged with a safe movement violation. The other driver was Zeb Franklin Smith of the 100 block of Guy Smith Road in LaGrange.

*Damages were estimated at $5,200 on Aug. 4 on N.C. 111 from N.C. 55. A vehicle driven by Serjio Lopez of the 1200 block of Camp Jubilee Road in Seven Springs was charged with a safe movement violation and no operator's license. The other driver was Jones William Hunter of Pink Hill.

*Damages were estimated at $6,000 Friday on Parkstown Road at Beston Road. A vehicle driven by Steven Cody Horan of the 100 block of Easy Street in Seven Springs was charged with a safe movement violation. The other driver was Hugo Sosa of the 100 block of Harmony Circle.

*Damages were estimated at $5,000 in a one-vehicle accident Friday on Stevens Mill Road at Ferry Bridge Road. A vehicle driven by Kenneth Alan Westervelt of the 2600 block of Cashwell Drive was traveling east on Stevens Mill Road exceeding the speed limit in a curve, the Highway Patrol said. Westervelt lost control, ran off the road, hit a newspaper box, a mobile home and a tree, and came to rest in a yard. Westervelt was transported to Wayne Memorial Hospital by Wayne County EMS. He is no longer a patient at the hospital. He was charged with careless and reckless driving.

*One person was injured in a one-vehicle accident Saturday on U.S. 70 at N.C. 581 toward Claridge Nursery Road. A vehicle driven by Jacklyn Paulette Wells of the 300 block of Hollowell Street was traveling west on U.S. 70 when she had a seizure. The vehicle ran off the road on the right side at the entrance to the Handy Mart and struck a culvert, then crossed the parking lot of the Handy Mart and came to a stop when it struck a pole with a vacuum cleaner on it. Ms. Wells, and two other people in the vehicle, John Paul Wells and Terrence Wells Jr., were attended to by Wayne County EMS, but not transported to the hospital. Ms. Wells was charged with no operator's license.
