Neighbor's report
helps police nab 2
An alert neighbor's information about the location of two people after a daylight break-in on Wednesday enabled Goldsboro police to arrest the suspects and charge them with four felony offenses.
The unidentified citizen saw a man take property from a home in the 2800 block of McLain Street and put it in a woman's car. The citizen kept the two in sight and advised police of their location until officers could stop them, Investigator Dale Foster said.
Jeffrey Tyrone Davis, 33, of Woodland Church Road and Synovia Yvette Washington, 32, of West Oak Street were arrested without incident by Foster and A-shift Officer Mark Taylor on Dr. M.L. King Jr. Expressway, the U.S. 70 bypass, near the North Spence Avenue exit.
Davis and Ms. Washington were charged with breaking and entering, possession of burglary tools, larceny and possession of stolen goods.
Davis was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of a $40,000 secured bond. Ms. Washington was jailed in lieu of a $28,000 secured bond. Each was to have a first court appearance today to determine their legal representation.
The stolen property -- an electric guitar, a bass guitar, a suitcase, a blanket and loose change -- was recovered and was to be returned to the resident, Michael John Harris. The guitars were valued at $500.
Investigations
Wayne County sheriff's deputies are investigating these reports:
*An estimated $574 worth of tools was stolen between Tuesday and Wednesday after doors were damaged at a home under construction in the 200 block of Thunder Swamp Road, sheriff's deputies said. Joe Thomas Smith reported the theft of two saws, valued at $145; William Roger Hill said a miter saw, valued at $329, was taken, and George Allen Baker reported the larceny of a shop vacuum, valued at $100. Damage was put at $150.
*A glass cabinet, 25 windows, a couch, a chair, two doors and two door locks were damaged between Tuesday and Wednesday at Heart of David Ministry at 202 Church St. in Eureka, deputies said. Damages were estimated at more than $3,000.
*A weed trimmer, an edger and a blower were stolen between Tuesday and Wednesday from a trailer in the 1600 block of East New Hope Road, deputies said. The owner and resident, Steve Keith Radford, said his property was worth $1,270.
Two charged
Two men who tried to return a stolen microwave oven for a refund were arrested Wednesday by Goldsboro police and charged with obtaining property by false pretense.
Ronald Edward Pigg, 34, of Windsor Drive and Shawn Walter O'Brien, 33, of Countryview Drive were placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of $1,500 secured bonds on the felony offense. They had returned to Wal-Mart with the oven, Officer Jeremy Piner said.
Missing
A 13-year-old boy was reported missing Wednesday to the Wayne County Sheriff's Office. Christopher M. Lysogorski of 174 Grantham School Road was described as white, 5-feet and 100 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes.
When he was seen last at about 7:15 a.m. Wednesday, he was wearing blue jeans and a white T-shirt. Anyone with information on his location was asked to call the Sheriff's Office at 731-1481.
