Bloodmobile
The Wayne County Chapter of the American Red Cross will hold a Bloodmobile Friday from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base Community Center.
Town Hall open house
An open house at the renovated Fremont Town Hall will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, town officials said.
"We've been using it for a while," said new Town Administrator Kerry McDuffie. "This will give folks a chance to come and take a look at it."
A ribbon-cutting ceremony will start the program. Local, state and federal officials who helped fund the project also will speak briefly.
The renovated building was opened in January. The project also will include a new sidewalk, new street lights and underground wiring on the first block of East Main Street. The $431,000 project was paid with state and federal grants, a low-interest loan and a small town match.
Visitor guide updated
The Goldsboro Travel and Tourism Department is updating its database for a 2004 reprint of the Greater Goldsboro visitor guide.

Chinquapin School honored
Chinquapin Elementary School has become Duplin County's first School of Excellence. The school was recognized by the state's accountability program for having at least 90 percent of its students performing at grade level.
Chinquapin's student body had 91.1 percent performing at grade level last year, said Dr. Paul Britt, assistant superintendent of the Duplin County Schools.
