Ice cream social

Get ready to cool those parched throats at the Downtown Goldsboro Development Corporation's annual ice cream social on Thursday.

The social will be held from 4 until 6 p.m. at the downtown Farmer's Market on the 300 block of South Center Street.

Free ice cream will be provided by Pet Dairy. Other food and beverages will be for sale. There will also be a "moonwalk" and face painting for the kids, and a doughnut dipping contest. DJ Wildheart will provide musical entertainment and karaoke.

TLC films in Wayne

The story of a Fremont man injured in a lawn mower accident in 1993 will be featured on The Learning Channel next week.

Timothy Smith had 18 surgeries in 10 months and spent a month at Duke Hospital after the accident that caused multiple injuries to his face.

A film crew visited Goldsboro in October, 2002, interviewing him and those who treated him at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

The program, "Saving Life and Limb: Shattered Bodies," will be broadcast Monday night at 8 and 11 on The Learning Channel.

Bloodmobile

The Wayne County Chapter of the American Red Cross will have a Bloodmobile on Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Wayne Community College. Donors will receive a coupon for a free car wash.
