Summerfest
Waynesborough Historical Village will be filled this weekend with games and entertainment during the 11th annual Summerfest. The event is free and open to the public.
On Friday through Sunday there will be Civil War re-enactors, birds of prey, tours, tug-o-war contests, pony rides, dancing mules, crafters, Indian village activities, a food vendor and games for all ages. Activities begin at 10 a.m. each day, except for a Dutch Oven Cooking Contest on Saturday, which starts at 9 a.m.

Art trip planned
The Foundation of Wayne Community College will sponsor a trip to see the "American Eden: Landscape Paintings of the Hudson River School" exhibit at the N.C. Museum of Art.
The exhibit, taken from the collection of the Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art, features 55 landscapes painted by 25 artists of the 19th century.
Participants will meet at the college on Thursday, July 22, at 9:30 a.m. for a brief orientation, and they will leave at 10. They will travel to the museum, have lunch and take a docent-led tour of the exhibit. The trip is limited to 20 participants.
The $22 fee for non-members of the museum, $15 for members, to be paid that day, covers transportation, lunch and the tour. To register, call 735-5151, extension 360, and give names of attendees and specify "museum trip."
At national forum
Morgan Lane of Goldsboro is one of 350 students from across the nation participating in the National Youth Leadership Forum on Medicine in the Washington, D.C.
A rising junior at Charles B. Aycock High School, she is the daughter of Carol and Bill Lane.
Students are chosen on the basis of academic excellence, leadership potential and demonstrated interest in a career in medicine. Miss Lane aspires to become a forensic pathologist.
During the 10-day forum, the students will interact with physicians and staff personnel at medical facilities, clinics and research labs.
