Music festival Saturday

"An Evening of Blues," the third annual WEJA Music Festival, will take place Saturday from 6 until 8:30 p.m. at the Paramount Theatre in Goldsboro.
Tickets cost $10 per person and can be purchased at the theater beginning at 2 p.m. the day of the performance.
Featured artists will include Lightnin' Wells, originally of Goldsboro. Wells has played his brand of the Piedmont blues at the Blues to Bop Festival in Lugano, Switzerland; the Mississippi Valley Blues Festival in Davenport, Iowa; and the Paramount Theater for the Arts in Bristol, Tenn.
Also featured will be:
*Algia Mae Hinton, the 1992 recipient of the North Carolina Folk Heritage Award. Ms. Hinton can be seen in "Step It Up and Go," a documentary for North Carolina Public Television, and has a CD entitled "Honey Babe: Blues, Folk Tunes and Gospel from North Carolina." She has performed at the National Folk Festival, the Chicago University Folk Festival and Carnegie Hall.
*Bob Stephens, a keyboardist who performs blues with a back beat that keeps his audience tapping their feet.
*Arthur Shuey, a singer, harmonica player and entertainer.
WEJA Enterprises Artistic Productions is a production company in New Bern. Its primary mission is to culturally enlighten and educate the listening public to "America's national treasure" -- jazz and blues. The company is owned and operated by Willie E. and Jacqueline B. Atkinson.
