The public is invited to join college administrators, local and state government officials, construction personnel and continuing education students in digging up a little dirt at Wayne Community College. A groundbreaking ceremony set for 10 a.m. on Monday will mark the start of construction on the college's second new building funded by the 2000 Higher Education Improvement Bonds.
The 31,204 square-foot high-performance "green" building will house the college's Continuing Education departments including the Small Business and Industry Center, Basic Skills programs, and the occupational and community service classes, as well as the offices departments.
The building will be located on the northwest corner of the campus, off Wayne Memorial Drive. A sign points to the site and shovels will mark the spot of the ceremony.
