Recruiting Girl Scout leaders
Women are invited to a presentation at the main branch of the Wayne County Public Library to hear about what Girl Scout volunteers do.
The speaker will be Sue Thomas, the membership specialist for Girl Scouts of Coastal Carolina.
She will talk at 2 p.m. and again at 7 p.m. Thursday at the library on Ash Street in Goldsboro and again at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. on June 28 at the Community Center of Seymour Johnson Air Force Base.

Center Street Jam
The Downtown Goldsboro Development Corp.'s Center Street Jam will be held Thursday and will feature the Johnny Dollar Band.
A variety of food and liquid refreshments will be available.
Coca-Cola is one of the DGDC annual sponsors and donates all proceeds to the local Boys & Girls Club.
The Jam is held at the Waynesborough House parking lot on South Center Street from 5:30 - 8 p.m.
The next Jam will be on July 8 and will feature Billy Scott & the Prophets.
Living history
Wool-clad volunteer re-enactors will portray the 1st/11th North Carolina Volunteers during a living history program at Bentonville Battlefield on Saturday.
The uniforms, weapons and drills will be authentic to those of the Confederate volunteer regiment of the 1860s.
Uniformed soldiers will demonstrate various activities of the common North Carolina soldier and will discuss the uniforms and equipment used during the war. They will give demonstrations on a three-inch ordnance rifle and a typical Civil War cannon.
The free program will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and visitors will be encouraged to talk with the volunteers and staff.
For additional information, call 910-594-0789. Bentonville Battlefield is within the Division of State Historic Sites and is three miles north of Newton Grove. From Wayne County, take U.S. 13 South or N.C. 55 to Newton Grove and then take U.S. 701 North to State Road 1008.
Flags at half-staff
American flags should remain at half-staff until July 4. Flags are flown at half-staff for 30 days following the death of a former president. Ronald Reagan died on June 5.
