Three hurt in wrecks
Three people were injured and damages were estimated at $10,950 in three recent traffic collisions in Wayne County, the Highway Patrol reported.
*A driver was injured and damages were estimated at $6,000 in a car-truck collision at 7:15 a.m. Sunday on N.C. 55 near Atlas Price Road, the Highway Patrol said. Elton Glenn Jones, 70, of N.C. 55 West, Mount Olive, was treated and released from Wayne Memorial Hospital. The other driver, Mauro Aguilera Sosa, 21, of Asheville, was charged with driving while impaired, hit and run and no operator's license. Troopers said Sosa was driving at a high rate of speed and the pickup that he was operating collided with the rear of Jones' car, knocking it off the left side. Sosa fled but was arrested later.
*A driver was injured in a two-car collision at 4:55 p.m. Friday at U.S. 117 and U.S. 13, about five miles south of Goldsboro, the Highway Patrol said. Deborah E. Davis, 34, of N.C. 55 West, Mount Olive, was released after emergency-room treatment. The other motorist, Judith C. Sasser, 59, of Corbett Hill Road, Mount Olive, was charged with failure to reduce speed after the rear-end collision. Damages were set at $1,450.
*A driver was injured in a two-car crash at 5:05 p.m. Thursday on Rosewood Road near Old Smithfield Road, the Highway Patrol said. Pamela Hartley Moody, 41, of Rosewood Road was released after emergency-room treatment. The other driver, Elizabeth Nichole Holt, 16, of Capps Bridge Road, Princeton, was charged with failure to reduce speed. Ms. Moody was slowing to turn left into a driveway at the time Ms. Holt was passing her car, troopers said. Damages were put at $3,500.
Equipment stolen
Equipment used in air-conditioning repair work was stolen between Friday and Monday from three vans belonging to Eastern Air Conditioning Services Inc. at 2588 U.S. 70 West, a Wayne County Sheriff's Office report said.
Three acetylene torches, three nitrogen kits, two vacuum pumps and two air-conditioning recovery units were stolen after windows were smashed in the vans. The equipment was valued at $3,550. Damages were set at $600.
Home, car break-ins
About $4,200 in property has been stolen from a home and $3,250 in property has been stolen from a car in the 100 block of Shirley Drive, according to a Wayne County Sheriff's Office report.
The resident, Brandie M. Carreno, reported the theft of a 55-inch television, computer equipment, video-game equipment and jewelry between Sunday and Monday from her home. The thief had disabled an alarm system and smashed a window to get inside, the report said. Damages were put at $700.
At the same time, the thief stole four silver rims and tires and a combination stereo and compact disc player from her parents' unlocked car, the report said.
Sheriff's deputies also are investigating these reports:
*Video games and other equipment were stolen between Sunday and Monday after a window was shattered in a home in the 400 block of Camp Trailee Road, deputies said. The property, owned by S.L. DeAngelo, was valued at $879. Damage was put at $100.
*A computer, a shotgun, jewelry, a combination DVD and video cassette recorder, a collection of Elvis Presley stamps, coins, lighters and watches and a safe were stolen Monday from a home in the 100 block of Whispering Lane, deputies said. The resident, Joseph Gurganus, estimated the value of his property at $1,290. No sign of forced entry was reported.
Investigations
A Goldsboro man said a man displayed a pistol before dawn today at South Slocumb and Pine streets and demanded his money, according to a Goldsboro police report.
Leslie Hines, 22, told officers that he ran away and did not give up any money. The only description of the suspect was that he was black, wearing a white T-shirt and a white do-rag.
Police also are investigating these reports:
*A glider and two metal chairs were stolen from a driveway, and a bed, a dresser and saw blades were stolen between Thursday and Monday after a garage door was forced open at a home in the 200 block of South Hillcrest Drive, police said. The owner, Louwanna Pender of Pikeville, put a $2,630 value on the property.
*The roof, hood and trunk lid of a car and a door and a quarter panel of a truck were damaged between Sunday and Monday in the 700 block of Pou Street, police said. The owner and resident, Billy Joe Boyette, estimated damages at $1,650.
Drug charge
A 21-year-old man was arrested Monday night by Goldsboro police and charged with a felony drug offense on North Berkeley Boulevard.
Corwin Jay Worrell of East Raintree Lane was charged with possession of marijuana. He was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of a $3,000 secured bond.
Missing
A 15-year-old Goldsboro girl was reported missing Monday to Goldsboro police. Thomasina Bunch of 1406 Edgerton St. was described as black, 5-feet-6 and 206 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes.
When she was seen last at 12:30 a.m. Monday, she was wearing an Army green skirt, black and white athletic shoes and a yellow coat. Anyone with information on her location was asked to call police at 705-6572.
