Nyaho performs free concert

Pianist William Chapman Nyaho will perform in a free concert at 7:30 p.m. on June 29 in the Hoffler Building Auditorium at James Sprunt Community College in Kenansville.
Nyaho, known for his neoclassic style, will perform again during the lunch hour on June 30.
A native of Ghana, West Africa, Nyaho has a bachelor of arts degree from Oxford University and the Honour School of Music. He also has earned a doctor of musical arts degree from the University of Texas at Austin.
Following a four-year residency as a North Carolina Visiting Artist, which included a stay at James Sprunt, Nyaho taught at the University of Louisiana, where he held the Heymann Endowed Professorship. He has won numerous competitions and awards, including the American Composers Award.
Nyaho is an independent scholar, teacher and concert pianist living in the Pacific Northwest. He is working on a graded anthology of piano music by composers of African descent, which will be published by Oxford University Press.
