Graduation night
Eight Wayne County high school graduations are scheduled for this weekend.
Tonight, ceremonies are scheduled at Wayne Country Day School in the auditorium at 7 p.m.
Eastern Wayne High School's graduation starts at 6 p.m.
At 6:30 p.m., Goldsboro and Spring Creek high schools' ceremonies commence.
Charles B. Aycock is at 7 p.m.
And Rosewood High's begin at 7:30 p.m.
Southern Wayne High School will hold its exercises on Saturday at 2 p.m. in College Hall of Mount Olive College.
Risk of severe weather
The National Weather Service in Raleigh said the threat of severe storms exists for Wayne and other counties east of Interstate 95 this evening.
The biggest threat would be strong wind gusts along with some hail and heavy downpours.
The area has a 40 percent chance of showers and storms, with highs around 90 and lows in the upper 60s.
Princeton commencement
About 70 seniors will graduate today from Princeton High School. The service will begin at 7 p.m. in the new gymnasium.
Valedictorian Lisa Thompson and salutatorian Addison Gainey will be the keynote speakers. Hannah Capps will offer reflections, and Jesse Massey will speak on Travis Godwin, a student who was killed and would have graduated this year.
Principal Kirk Denning will hand out the diplomas.
Immunizations
Effective on June 1, the immunization clinic hours at the Wayne County Health Department will be Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. and from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. No appointment is necessary.
