Drug charges
Four people were arrested Wednesday by Wayne County authorities and charged with felony drug offenses.
*Lafonte Tyon Moses, 28, of Odell Street was charged by the Goldsboro-Wayne County Drug Squad with possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, maintaining a dwelling for the purpose of keeping and selling marijuana, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a stolen firearm. He was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of a $50,000 secured bond.
*Angel Mechell Hagans, 27, of Odell Street was charged by the drug squad with possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana and maintaining a home for the purpose of keeping and selling marijuana. She was jailed in lieu of a $25,000 secured bond.
*Ernestina Torrez Sanchez, 23, of Ann Street was charged by the sheriff's Aggressive Criminal Enforcement Team with possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana in a convenience store parking lot. She was jailed in lieu of a $50,000 secured bond.
*Byron Navell George, 22, of Rosewood Road was charged by Goldsboro police with possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana and maintaining a vehicle for the purpose of keeping and selling marijuana. He also was held on an outstanding traffic charge. He was jailed in lieu of a $5,000 secured bond.
Man wanted
A 45-year-old man is wanted by the Wayne County Sheriff's Office on felony charges of breaking and entering and larceny.
Mack "Buddy" Carter Jr. was described as white, 6-feet and 180 pounds. His last-known address was in the 100 block of Holloman Lane, which is off Old Mount Olive Road, near the Rollingwood Estates subdivision of Dudley.
Carter was seen Wednesday night at Wayne Memorial Hospital, where he was visiting a relative. When deputies pursued him, Carter fled.
Anyone with information on Carter's location was asked to call Sheriff's Detective Sgt. Rick Farfour at 731-1497 or 731-1481 or Goldsboro-Wayne County Crime Stoppers at 735-2255.
Auto theft
Three teen-agers have been arrested by the Wayne County Sheriff's Office and charged with felony crimes in the theft of vehicles.
Andrew Wayne Clark, 17, of Stuckey Road, Fremont, and George Wayne Price, 18, of Hooks Road, Pikeville, were charged with two counts each of larceny and possession of stolen goods. Each was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of a $10,000 secured bond.
Other charges will be sought in grand jury indictments, Sheriff's Capt. George Raecher said.
A 15-year-old boy, who was not identified because of his age, was charged in a juvenile petition and placed in a juvenile detention center.
The three teens were accused of stealing a four-wheeler, a dirt bike and a 1988 Chevrolet truck from Grand Street near Pikeville, said the arresting officers, Detective Sgts. Shawn Harris and Carl Lancaster. Detective Sgts. Ray Brogden and Mike Kabler assisted in the case.
Six hurt in wrecks
Six people were injured and damages were estimated at $33,500 in four recent traffic collisions in Wayne County, the Highway Patrol reported.
*Two people were injured and damages were estimated at $15,500 in a three-vehicle collision at 2:10 p.m. Tuesday at N.C. 581 and Rosewood Road, the Highway Patrol said. One driver, Mary Anita Furin, 33, and her passenger, Alyssa Alfaro, 2, both of Stevens Mill Road, were treated and released from Wayne Memorial Hospital. Troopers said Ms. Furin was starting a left turn and her car collided with an oncoming, eastbound sport utility vehicle driven by Jonathan Trey Kriger, 16, of Moss Hill Road. The impact pushed the car that Kriger was driving into a stopped, northbound auto driven by Jamie Nichole Hall, 17, of Rita Lane.
*A driver was injured and damage was estimated at $5,000 in a wreck at 2:19 p.m. Monday on Old Grantham Road near Sandhill Drive, the Highway Patrol said. Brenda S. Cox, 57, of Providence Church Road was released after emergency-room treatment. She was charged with failure to maintain lane control after her sport utility vehicle ran off the right side, struck a tree and a mail box and overturned.
*Three people were injured in a two-car crash at 7:45 a.m. Monday at N.C. 111 and Indian Springs Road, the Highway Patrol said. One driver, Janet S. Howard, 56, of White Flash Road, Mount Olive, and two passengers in the other auto, Merle Latham, 74, and George Adams, 76, both of Grifton, were treated and released from Wayne Memorial Hospital. The other motorist, Leon Louis Pippin, 74, of Grifton, was charged with a yield violation. Troopers said Pippin had stopped and then tried to cross N.C. 111 and his westbound car was struck by Ms. Howard's northbound auto. Damages were set at $5,500.
*Damage was estimated at $7,500 in a one-truck wreck at 4:57 p.m. Friday at U.S. 70 West and Green Valley Drive, the Highway Patrol said. The driver, Jacob Edward Beckworth, was charged with driving while impaired and driving while his license was revoked. His eastbound pickup ran off the right side and struck a ditch.
Investigations
Wayne County sheriff's deputies are investigating these reports:
*A water heater, two light fixtures, a roll of carpet and two roles of linoleum were stolen between May 12 and Wednesday after a window was damaged at a rental mobile home in the 300 block of Durham Lake Road, sheriff's deputies said. The owner, Ronnie Williams of Dudley, estimated the value of the stolen property at $159 and damage at $50. One light fixture and one role of linoleum were recovered.
*Five rings were stolen from a home in the 100 block of Grant Drive, deputies said. The resident, J.M. Jackson, put a $1,750 value on the rings. No sign of forced entry was reported.
Goldsboro police are investigating these reports:
*Two tool boxes with tools, a compact disc player and a radio were stolen between Tuesday and Wednesday after padlocks were cut from a gate and a rental storage locker at U-Stor Personal Mini Storage at 3989 McLain St., police said. The renter, Brandon Gray of LaGrange, estimated his property's value at $1,300. Damages were set at $10.
*A white, two-door 1993 Dodge was stolen Wednesday from the Wayne Motel, police said. The driver, Cynthia Hardy of Goldsboro, said that when she got out of the car, the unidentified driver took off. The car, owned by Ms. Hardy's mother, Evelyn Williams, was valued at $2,500.
*A white, 1992 Chrysler Town and Country van was stolen between Tuesday and Wednesday from the owner's driveway in the 800 block of Shelley Drive, police said. The owner, Needham D. Daughtry, put a $1,200 value on the van.
Forgery
Two people were arrested Wednesday by Goldsboro police and charged with forging and then passing a forged check.
Adam Joseph Barfield, 30, who did not disclose a home address, and Gayle Denise Brown, 29, of North Wilson Street, Fremont, were charged with one felony count each of forgery and uttering. Each was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of an $8,000 secured bond.
