Melissa S. Longwith completed the Doctor of Pharmacy program at Campbell University and graduated with honors on Sunday, May 9. She is the daughter of Jane Longwith and the late Buford Longwith and is a graduate of Southern Wayne High School.
Miss Longwith has accepted a position as pharmacist at CVS Pharmacy on Wayne Memorial Drive.
Lauren Jennings will attend the Otis College of Art & Design's Summer Art program in Los Angeles, Calif. Her concentration will be in design and drawing during the four-week, intensive pre-college program. She is a rising senior at Arendell Parrot Academy in Kinston.
Reuben Jones of Goldsboro is a recipient of the Wesleyan Merit Award Scholarship for the fall of 2004 academic year at North Carolina Wesleyan College in Rocky Mount. The Wesleyan Merit Award is a four-year academic scholarship awarded to first-time students based on high overall academic standing.
Jennifer Dudley of Goldsboro is the recipient of the Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship for the fall 2004 academic year at North Carolina Wesleyan College in Rocky Mount. The Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship is a four-year academic scholarship awarded to first-time students based on high overall academic standing.
Grady Howard McDonnell has received a $500 scholarship from the South Atlantic Well Drillers Association. He will attend North Carolina State University in Raleigh. He was sponsored for the regional scholarship competition by Peter McDonnell Sr.
Michelle Raynor of Goldsboro received a master of social work from the University of South Carolina during commencement services on May 7.
Michelle Carmon of Goldsboro is one of six high school seniors to win the Joseph G. Gordon Scholarship to attend Wake Forest University in the fall. The scholarship, which was established in 1986 by the university and the Z. Smith Reynolds Foundation, is awarded to students who show exceptional promise and achievement and are members of constituencies traditionally underrepresented at Wake Forest. The scholarship covers full tuition and is renewable up to four years.
Miss Carmon is the daughter of Anthony and Sharon Carmon and is a senior at Eastern Wayne High School.
Marie Harvin of Goldsboro, a graduate student at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, recently received a $900 Clem A. and Atha Wright Scholarship. The award was announced at the 2004 spring Honors Reception in the School of Human Environmental Sciences. Miss Harvin, who is studying nutrition, is the daughter of Allan and Nancy Harvin of Goldsboro.
