FAISON -- Kathy Warren took the oath of office Wednesday night as assistant clerk to the Faison town board.
The board set her pay at $10 an hour. She came highly recommended by town board member Ruby Hobbs, whom she had worked with previously.
Duplin County's new tourism director, Rob Wells, introduced himself to the board. "We want the people in Wallace to know what there is to do in Faison and vice versa," said Wells.
The town's water and sewer projects are proceeding, slowly at times because of the rain, said Public Works Director Richard Cameron.
A new well has been tested at 1,000 gallons a minute. The town had only expected it to pump 750 gallons a minute.
The board amended the town's parking ordinance to prohibit parking in front of the fire station, at the eastern corner of the south side of West Main and Center streets and at the western corner of Main Street at Faison Avenue, where Southern Bank used to be.
