Senior Games competitors feted

The Senior Arts Follies entertained about 60 people Friday who participated in the Wayne County Senior Games.
The Golden Tones sang their own words to "My Favorite Things," like "when the pipes leak, when the bones creek."
Other acts included soloists Dorothy Skeen and Doris Wiggins, two line-dancing teams, Ann Cunningham on the dulcimer and Peggy Beaman on the piano. The awards ceremony was held in Herman Park Center.
Marjorie Himes took 10 gold medals, including table tennis, BB shot, horseshoes, the 40-meter dash, the 200-meter dash, softball throw, discus, shot-put, 1,500-meter walk, 100-meter dash and football throw.
Mary Ann Grady followed with nine gold medals, including table tennis, BB shot, the 25-yard freestyle, football throw, shuffleboard, croquet, horseshoes, spin casting and softball throw.
Three people won six gold medals each. They were Vivian Clark with gold in table tennis, the 200-meter dash, softball throw, discus, shot-put and the 100-meter dash; Dora Perry with gold in bowling, basketball throw, softball throw, discus, shotput and football throw; and Hunter Wells with gold in the football throw, horseshoes, spin casting, softball throw, discus and shot-put.
Bud Curdts and Joe PInto won five gold medals each. Curdts won his in spin casting, softball throw, discus, shotput and football throw. Pinto won the gold in billiards, softball throw, discus, shotput and 200-meter dash. Jean Pool won four gold medals, in horseshoes, croquet, shuffleboard and spin casting. Four participants took home three gold medals. George Pool won the gold in horseshoes, billiards and shuffleboard. Lillie Kendall won the gold in bowling, bowling mixed doubles and bowling doubles. Chris Amon took home the gold in billiards, crocheting and football throw. Walt Bryant won the gold in bowling, softball throw and football throw.
Sylvia Creel won the gold in horseshoes and shuffleboard. Dorothy Curdts won the gold in spin casting and softball throw. Jeanne Lovings won the gold in needlework and the football throw. William Mcroy won the gold in the 25-yard backstroke and the 100-meter dash. Wilma Southerland won the gold in the 25-yard backstroke and freestyle. Raleigh Thompson won the gold in bowling and bowling doubles. Jessie Thornton won the gold in bowling and doubles bowling. James Young won the gold in mixed doubles bowling and doubles bowling. Donnie Cox won in bowling and bowling doubles.
One gold medal each went to Nelson Riggs in billiards, Catherine Rogers in acrylic painting, Raymond Sellers in golf, H.B. Shubert in table tennis, Dorothy Skeens in billiards, Ruby Wallace in photography, Edna Watson in croquet, Alice Wells in shotput, Olivia West in bowling, Bob Wood in horseshoes, Raymond Barnes, billiards, Robert Brown in billiards, John Busse in golf, Lula Carlson in the softball throw, Judy Cordeiro in croquet, Evelyn Creech in floral arrangement, Gene Farmer in golf, Micheline Gardner in the 5K race walk, Barry Giddings in bowling, Erma Goodson in oil painting, Ike Goodwin in golf, Nan Griffin in the 25-yard breaststroke, Maude Gurley in shuffleboard, Jackie Holmes in croquet, George Hunter in shuffleboard, William Joyner in golf, Samuel Lanier in billiards, Frances Long in mixed medium Iva Pierce in knitting, Rhoda Rawles in table tennis and Jacqueline Raynor in quilting.
