Day care owner
faces sex charges
A man advertising that he was opening a day care in his home was arrested Friday and charged with two felony counts of a first-degree sex offense with a child.
Teddy Faron Sanders, 34, of Grantham School Road was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of a $200,000 secured bond.
Wayne County sheriff's detectives received a report involving the alleged sexual assault on a 9-year-old. After an investigation, Sanders was arrested by Detective C.M. Bezio, detectives said. The day care had not opened when the alleged assault occurred.
Detective Sgts. Shawn Harris, Tony Morris and Tammy Odom and Detective R. Thomas Flores Jr. assisted in the case.
Woman charged
with 16 offenses
A 19-year-old Goldsboro woman has been arrested by Wayne County sheriff's officers and charged with 16 felony offenses -- 11 counts of forgery and five counts of passing forged checks.
Leann Marie Hill of A Street was charged Thursday after a Dudley resident reported April 20 that two people had been cashing checks on her bank account, Detective R. Thomas Flores Jr. said. Detective Sgt. Rick Farfour assisted in the case.
Ms. Hill was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of a $10,000 secured bond.
The other defendant, Justin Dean Hill, 21, was being sought on six counts of uttering a forged check. His last known address was on Country Run Lane at Mar Mac.
Anyone with information on Justin Hill's location was asked to call the Sheriff's Office at 731-1481 or Goldsboro-Wayne County Crime Stoppers at 735-2255. Callers may remain anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward.
Investigations
Wayne County law-enforcement officers are investigating these reports:
*A red and black Prowler Encore lawn mower was stolen Friday from the owner's yard in the 100 block of Adler Drive, sheriff's deputies said. The resident, Robert B. Mitchell, said the mower had a six-foot deck and a 62-inch cut and was worth $10,000.
*About $300 worth of rolled coins was stolen after a window was damaged at a home in the 700 block of North Claiborne Street, Goldsboro police said. The resident, Willie Reid, estimated damage at $75.
Drug charge
A 20-year-old man has been arrested by the Goldsboro-Wayne County Drug Squad and charged with a felony drug offense.
James Richard Daveler of Stoney Hill Road was charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana. He was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of a $5,000 secured bond.
Student charged
A 17-year-old student at Southern Academy alternative school in Mount Olive was arrested Friday by Wayne County sheriff's officers and charged with three felony offenses and assaulting an officer. Johnathon Nathaniel Brooks of Alert Cable Road, Dudley, was accused of a break-in on March 16, Detective Sgt. Rick Farfour said. Brooks was charged with breaking and entering, larceny and possession of stolen goods.
Brooks also was charged with assaulting Deputy Keith Hartzog, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. He was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of secured bond of $31,000.
Parole considered
A man sentenced in 1993 to 35 years in prison on a charge of second-degree murder is being considered for parole.
Wade Boseman, 39, of Dudley was charged Jan. 9, 1993, with first-degree murder. He pleaded guilty Aug. 30, 1993, in Wayne County Superior Court to second-degree murder.
The N.C. Post-Release Supervision and Parole Commission is collecting information to determine if Boseman qualifies for parole. Anyone with information may contact the commission at 1-919-716-3010.
The commission has the responsibility of paroling offenders sentenced before Oct. 1, 1994. The state's current sentencing guidelines eliminates parole for crimes after that date.
