Man wounded
A 22-year-old Goldsboro man was wounded Thursday night in a drive-by shooting in the 300 block of North Carolina Street, Goldsboro police said.
William Javon Maye of South Slocumb Street told officers that he was walking down the street at about 10:40 p.m. when a red car with black men passed him. Seconds later, he heard several gunshots and realized that he had been struck.
Maye's medical condition was not immediately known. He said he could not identify the assailants.
The gunshots also struck two windows and a door glass in a vacant home at 313 N. Carolina St. Damages were estimated at $150.
Home damaged
Gunshots inflicted an estimated $5,020 worth of damages Thursday to a home and furniture in the 100 block of Dell Drive near Dudley, Wayne County sheriff's deputies said.
The resident, Lamont Kornegay Jr., said he was asleep, then heard the gunshots at about 11:35 a.m., got up and found the damage. Vinyl siding, sheet rock, two doors, four windows, a couch, three chairs, a thermostat, an electric heater and a lamp were struck.
Mobile home fire
A vacant mobile home at 107 Derek Drive was damaged Thursday in a fire that officials called suspicious.
Mar Mac and Thoroughfare volunteer firefighters answered the 4 p.m. call and found the porch, underpinning and insulation on fire. Mar Mac Fire Chief Bill Harrell then asked for Wayne County sheriff's detectives and Emergency Services to investigate the blaze.
Damages were estimated at $1,000 to the home, owned by Kenneth Daniel Lewis of Goldsboro.
Collision
Damages were estimated at $8,500 in a two-car collision at 4:28 p.m. Thursday on North Berkeley Boulevard near Central Heights Road, Goldsboro police said.
Timothy Joseph Lancaster, 18, of Lemley Road, Pikeville, was charged with failure to reduce speed after the rear-end collision. The other driver was identified as Edna Howell Pate, 68, of Hill Street.
