Rosewood man
stabbed at store

A Rosewood man was stabbed Friday afternoon during an altercation at a convenience store.

Michael Wayne Bragy, 20, of Rosewood Road was transported to Wayne Memorial Hospital for treatment of a puncture wound to his chest, the Wayne County Sheriff's Office reported. He remained in the hospital Saturday night.

The suspect, riding in a Dodge Neon, reportedly made an obscene gesture at Bragy as the car passed Bragy in Rosewood around 3:30 p.m. Friday. Bragy then followed the car until it stopped at the Hardy Mart on U.S. 70 West. The two men argued, then witnesses saw the suspect holding a knife.

The suspect then fled in the blue two-door Dodge Neon with two female passengers.

The sheriff's office has a suspect but has not identified him. Reportedly, he did not know Bragy. No arrest had been reported as of Saturday night.

Anyone with information on the assault can call Crime Stoppers at 735-2255. Callers do not need to identify themselves.

Two cars totaled

An accident on Park Avenue totaled two cars Friday, but all occupants escaped serious injury, Goldsboro police reported.

Shortly before 11 a.m. Friday, a 1985 Pontiac, driven by Robert Wayne Haithcock, 19, of Miller Street, ran through a stop sign on Daisy Street and hit a 1996 Chevrolet, driven by Dewey Lee Powell, 53, of Potts Road, Dudley, broadside on the passenger side, reports said.

The Pontiac sustained $4,000 in damages while $9,000 in damages were reported to the Chevrolet.

One passenger in Haithcock's car suffered minor injuries that were treated at Wayne Memorial Hospital, reports said.
