Walk for Hunger

United Church Ministries will have its annual Walk for Hunger on Sunday.

Registration will begin at 1 p.m. at the gazebo at Herman Park. The walkers will leave the park at 1:30.

Everyone who finishes the 41ò2-mile trek will receive a T-shirt.

Rest stops and security will be provided along the route.

De-Rail-A-Bration

Don't forget to attend the city's 13th annual De-Rail-A-Bration Festival on Saturday in downtown Goldsboro.

The Kiwanis Club's annual Greater Goldsboro Road Run is scheduled to take off at the Pedestrian Plaza at 8:30 a.m.

Following that will be the children's fun run, beginning at 9:30 a.m. The actual De-Rail-A-Bration activities will kick off at 10 a.m., lasting until 5 p.m.

There will be plenty to keep people busy, including rides, games, food, vendors and entertainment. Be sure to see Councilman Chuck Allen getting all wet in the dunking booth at 1 p.m., and former county Commissioner Ken Gerrard at 1:30 p.m.

A night of jazz

Tickets are still available for the Nnenna Freelon "Jazz Revisited" concert Saturday night at Wayne Community College.

Sponsored by the college's foundation as a fund-raiser for scholarships, the concert will begin at 8 p.m. in Moffatt Auditorium. A dessert reception will follow in the atrium.

Tractor pull

The Albertson Volunteer Fire Department will hold its annual Antique Tractor Pull at noon Saturday.

The tractor pull will begin at 12:30 p.m. at the Albertson Recreation Center. Admission is $5 for adults, $3.50 for children 5 to 12, and those under 5 are admitted free.

The pull will be put on by the Duplin Antique Tractor Pullers Association. A Kids Pedal Pull will be held at 3 p.m. for children ages 3 to 7.

'Dance for Christ'

Artistic Productions Inc. will present "Dance for Christ 2004" at the Paramount Theatre at 7 p.m. Friday; 2 and 7 p.m., Saturday; and 3 p.m., Sunday. Cost is $5. Tickets can be purchased at the door and by calling 778-7966.

Bloodmobile

The Wayne County Chapter of the American Red Cross will have a Bloodmobile on Friday from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base Community Center. Donors will receive a coupon for a free car wash.
