Seeking young voters
The Board of Elections will be conducting voter registrations during lunch hours this month at all high schools in Wayne County.
The drive begins Thursday at Eastern Wayne High School. The remaining schedule is Friday, Goldsboro High; April 5, Southern Academy and Southern Wayne High; April 6, Spring Creek High and Wayne Christian; April 12, Faith Christian; April 19, Charles B. Aycock High and Belfast Academy; April 20, Wayne Country Day; and April 22, Rosewood High.
Board staff and volunteers will be registering students who are 18 years old or who will be 18 by Nov. 2. Students should stop by the registration table that will be set up during their lunch hour and fill out an application or get more information.

Boys & Girls Club Week
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Wayne County joins more than 3,300 other such clubs across the country in celebrating National Boys & Girls Club Week.
The week-long celebration began Monday with Club Cleanup Day. The kick-off will begin today at 4 p.m. with the Goldsboro High School Marching Band and Goldsboro Mayor Al King reading the Boys & Girls Club Week Proclamation.
On Wednesday, there will be a club-wide Games Room Tournament, and on Thursday members will compete in the Fitness Authority Challenge. The week will conclude with "Movie Day."
"This should be our most exciting celebration yet," said MaryAnn Dudley, executive director. "We plan to show the community the rich diversity of programs and benefits the club provides to our young people."

Water interruption
Water service will be interrupted from 8 a.m. until 10 a.m. Friday for the residents of the 200 block of South William Street, the 200 block of East Chestnut Street and the 300 block of East Spruce Street.
The city will be installing water valves. If it rains, the work will be done on Monday, April 5.
'Relay Idol'
Local talent is being sought for the annual Relay for Life to be held May 14 at Eastern Wayne High School. The talent show will start at 4 p.m.
Those interested should choose a song of no more than 3 1/2 minutes in length to dedicate to someone who has been touched by cancer. An entry fee of $10 will allow the singer to have his name and the name of the person he is honoring in the Relay program book. Money raised will count toward the entertainer's Relay team or may be donated to another team.
The top 10 performers will go on to compete for Wayne County's Relay Idol on May 14 at 7 p.m.
Entries are due by April 30 by calling 759-1820 with the following information: Name, phone number, age, team, dedication to whom and why, name of song and length of song.
