The by now bad word SNOW in forecast again

That infamous word snow is once again in the Wayne County forecast.
After the "just a few flurries" forecast of Feb. 25 became 7 inches of snow, residents may be hoping the weatherman gets it right this time.
As of now, the National Weather Service in Raleigh is calling for snow mixed with rain beginning later today and continuing tonight, with an additional dusting Wednesday morning. No more than an inch accumulation is expected here and mostly on grassy areas.
But the weather service is also saying a winter weather advisory may need to be issued later today for several counties including Wayne.
The reason? Another fast-moving low pressure system has headed for eastern Georgia bringing cold air and moisture. Precipitation was expected to begin in the Piedmont then spread south and east. While the air mass is cold enough for wet snow or a mixture of snow and rain, the heaviest amounts will fall in the southern Piedmont, as much as 2 inches, with lesser amounts to the north and east of Raleigh.
If this sounds familiar it's because it is almost exactly the forecast issued that fateful day in late February. Wayne County watched with awe as the snowflakes grew in size and number, eventually blanketing the roads, snarling traffic and forcing schools and businesses to close.
Weather forecasters are quick to advise that residents monitor weather reports for any changes or warning that may be needed.
Whatever does fall is expected to melt quickly because of recent warm weather and more warming beginning Thursday.
