Summer employment

It may be difficult for students to think about summer jobs now, while the weather's cold and school is still in session, but the city of Goldsboro is actively recruiting for its summer employment program.
"We're having our one-stop summer employment shop every Friday in March," said Rick Roberson, personnel director for the city. "We're very excited about it."
The one-stop job fair is being held at the Herman Park Center.
This Friday, the job fair will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Roberson said. On the following two Fridays, March 19 and 26, the hours will be from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
There are 58 summer positions the city is hoping to fill. Some of the jobs available are softball supervisor, score keeper, gym supervisor, lifeguard, swim instructor, day camp worker, bus driver, cashiers and labor workers.
High school and college students can apply for jobs.
Applicants need to bring their Social Security cards, picture identification, and whatever other paperwork they might need, Roberson said.
The applicants will have their applications processed and will be interviewed the same day they come in to apply for the job.
Roberson said he was expecting a good turnout from the Friday job fairs.
"We are encouraging college students home during spring break to take advantage of this and come in and talk about employment," Roberson said.
