Hit with his own beer
A Goldsboro man walking from a gas station and convenience store was assaulted with his own beer and robbed of $10 before dawn today, a Goldsboro police report said.
Thomas McNeal, 51, told officers that he had bought the beer at about 12:05 a.m. at the Savemore station at 1903 E. Ash St. and then walked through the parking lot.
A black man, wearing all dark clothing, approached McNeal, grabbed the bottle, hit him with it, took the money and fled, police said. The robber could not be described further.
Couple sought
Henderson
A couple believed to be living in Princeton is wanted by the Wayne County Sheriff's Office on felony charges of breaking and entering and larceny.
Herbert Ainsworth Henderson, 37, was described as white, 5-feet-11 and 170 pounds with blond hair. Leslie Ann Penkala, 27, was described as white, 5-feet-5 and 110 pounds with brown hair. They may be living on East Second Street in Princeton.

Anyone with information on the location of either person was asked to call Wayne County Sheriff's Detective Sgt. Carl Lancaster at 731-1480, Princeton police at 936-5131 or Goldsboro-Wayne County Crime Stoppers at 735-2255. Callers may remain anonymous and may qualify for a cash reward.
Man wanted
An 18-year-old man is wanted by the Wayne County Sheriff's Office on a charge of felony attempted larceny.
Ferris
Michael Thomas Ferris was described as white, 6-feet-1 and 190 pounds with blue eyes and brown hair. He may be in Wilson County.
Anyone with information on his location was asked to call Sheriff's Detective Sgt. Shawn Harris at 731-1480 or the Wilson Police Department at 1-252-399-2323. Callers may remain anonymous, and they may be eligible for a cash reward.
Suspicious fire
A vacant home on Appletree Creek Road was destroyed Thursday in a fire called suspicious. "The house was on the ground when we got there," Eureka Volunteer Fire Chief Mike Brock said today. "It was completely gone. There was nothing left." The owner was not immediately known. Brock notified the Sheriff's Office and Emergency Service officials about a possible further investigation.
Crime Stoppers
Goldsboro-Wayne County Crime Stoppers has a new automatic answering service, but the same 735-2255 phone number.
The agency's police coordinator, Sgt. Ed Clay, says the service has replaced the old answering machine. Callers now can speak as long as they need to give the information about a crime. Clay also now has the only access to the information. The old service also limited the amount of time callers could talk.
Anyone with information on any crime in Wayne County was asked to call Crime Stoppers. Callers may remain anonymous, and they may be eligible for cash rewards of up to $1,000, if their information leads to arrests in felony cases.
Investigations
Wayne County sheriff's deputies are investigating these reports:
*China dinnerware, silverware and 24 crystal glasses were stolen between Jan. 21 and Thursday after a lock was damaged on a rental unit at Little River Mini Storage at 166 Claridge Nursery Road, sheriff's deputies said. The renter, Sallie E. Wells of Pikeville, estimated the value of the missing property at $1,825 and damage at $9.
*A thief smashed a car window, inflicting about $300 in damages, on Thursday in order to steal $10, deputies said. The owner, Lorenza Peacock II of Dudley, had left the car in the 100 block of Alert Cable Road.
Goldsboro police are investigating these reports:
*An in-dash DVD player, 40 compact discs, a coat and a book bag were stolen Thursday after a car window was smashed in the 300 block of North Hillcrest Drive, police said. The resident and owner, John V. Torres, put an $820 value on his property.
*A radio, an amplifier and 20 compact discs were stolen Thursday after a car door lock was damaged in the 400 block of Hillcrest Drive, police said. The resident and owner, James Dale Carpenter, estimated the property's value at $7500.
Money stolen
A 48-year-old woman was arrested Thursday by the Wayne County Sheriff's Office and charged with breaking and entering and larceny.
Billie Kaye Ousley of Buckson Drive was accused of stealing an undetermined amount of money from a home in Rosewood, said two sheriff's detectives, Sgt. Tony Morris and Mike Reid. Ms. Ousley was placed in the Wayne County Jail in lieu of a $5,000 secured bond.
