Bell ARC award

Cindy Bell, director of the Wayne County Chapter of the American Red Cross, has received a regional award for her outstanding work.
The Pride Award was presented to the director Thursday at a board meeting.

Chuck Waller, board chairman, said the award goes beyond the county and the state levels. "The National Red Cross recognized Cindy's efforts and accomplishments after three years of work as the chapter director," he said.
Mrs. Bell knew nothing of the nomination or award until it was presented to her Thursday.
"I was very shocked," she said. "I am very honored that they went out of their way to make sure that I was recognized. It's because of their efforts that this happened."
"We're very proud of her and grateful for her work here at the chapter," Waller said.
Mrs. Bell was nominated for the award by the chapter's staff, board of directors and volunteers, said Waller. "We felt compelled to nominate her for something at the highest level.
"The letters cited her for all the wonderful things she's done for the community like the school safety program and the blood safety program. She's led this chapter and made us look real good."
