Book drive

Two organizations that promote learning in Wayne County want to make sure every child in the community has a book to read.

In preparation for the national "Read America Day" on March 2, Sylvan Learning Center is sponsoring a book drive this month to benefit the Wish Book program for the Wayne County Partnership for Children.

The public is invited to bring new or gently used books to Sylvan at 206 N. Spence Ave.; to the partnership or Smart Start office, 800 N. William St.; or to the Seymour Johnson Air Force Base Library at 1520 Goodson St.

The book drive is an effort to encourage parents and children to shore up reading skills. All books collected will be donated to the partnership during an event to be held on Feb. 27.

For more information about the book drive, contact Toni Frana at 751-2380.
