Diehards: Accusations do not cause Trump supporters to waver

President Donald Trump has come under fire from virtually every direction during his first few months in office. He has seen his first major legislative initiative flounder out of the gate, and now he finds himself the focus of attention in an investigation into Russian meddling in last year's elections. Some of his decisions have not proved popular, and his approval ratings are at record lows.

Trump's abrupt manner and dismissal of the mainstream media has not earned him any points, and it has to be said that he helped bring that portion of his misery on himself.

But all this does not bother the people who voted for him. By and large, Trump supporters remain loyal to their man and dismiss the media's mounting criticism as the machinations of a corrupt business that relies too much on unnamed sources for its information.

There is no evidence of any wrongdoing by the president, they point out, and he is only doing what they elected him to do -- disrupt the system of government they believe has failed them. They tune out the "noise" of the media, for the most part, and find it slanted. Some might admit Trump  has gotten himself into some trouble, but they believe it is being overstated.

Trump's followers believe in his agenda and believe he is being railroaded because of it. You have to give them credit for sticking to their guns.
