Blame game: Clinton blaming Comey for presidential loss

News reports say Democrat Hillary Clinton is blaming the Federal Bureau of Investigation's late decision to revive its examination of her email accounts for her defeat in the presidential election.

She said she would have won except for FBI director James Comey's decision to send a letter to Congress on Oct. 28 announcing that the FBI had uncovered emails possibly related to its earlier investigation into her use of a private server while she was serving as secretary of state.

We don't agree.

We believe the voters who cast ballots for her opponent, Republican Donald Trump, had made up their minds weeks in advance. There simply was a massive movement among mostly rural voters to not cast their ballots for her, no matter what. Clinton represented the status quo, and there was a groundswell of discontent with Washington that would have overridden her campaign whether the FBI had raised the email issue or not.

It might make her feel better to have a scapegoat to pin her loss on, but we don't think that is fair. She lost the election because so many voters did not trust her, did not want four more years of liberal-leaning leadership..
