So close: Defeat tough to swallow for fans of UNC basketball

For fans of the University of North Carolina basketball team, Monday night's NCAA championship game will live forever.

In infamy.

In what was no doubt one of the most exciting finishes in the history of the tournament, the Tar Heels lost on the final shot of the game as time expired.

Today, there will be glum-faced Carolina fans everywhere you go. You'll see them at work, at the coffee shop, wherever people congregate.

They have little reason to be sad -- it was a great season after all -- but to come so close and lose like they did will stick in their craw for a long time.

So put away those light blue socks, that favorite lucky cap, even those shorts with the Tar Heel logo stitched on them. You'll need them next season.
