Debate debate: Republicans are right; the deck was stacked

Anyone who watched the most recent Republican debate could not help but be struck by the stupidity, no, absurdity, of some of the questions.

From off the wall to downright insulting, the moderators seemed to be completely unaware that choosing a presidential candidate is a serious task and that those who were watching to make their decision need information.

The bottom line is that was political bias, pure and simple.

Because some commentators do not think much of the Republican field this year, they treat any gathering that involves them as a sideshow.

Forget the fact that these debates are designed to help Republican voters as they make their decision in the primaries and caucuses in the coming months.

The truth is that there were few substantive questions asked -- and there is something very wrong about that.

So as we prepare for the next questioning session, it is absolutely critical that the rules be set out pretty clearly by the Republican National Committee.

Treat this seriously or we are done.

Perhaps then someone will get the message.
