Vote, please: Off-year elections have direct effect on your life

We know you probably think you have better things to do -- a busy schedule that cannot stand even one more entry.

But tomorrow, you need to add one more item to the list -- casting your vote.

Whether you live in Mount Olive, Goldsboro, Seven Springs or Eureka, there are very important decisions to be made Tuesday.

The names on the ballot are people who will guide your towns' futures for more than a couple years.

And they directly affect the way you and your family live your lives -- and whether your community will thrive and prosper.

So there is no question that, tomorrow, casting your vote could be one of the most important things you do.

The Election Board is predicting a low turnout -- about 10 percent.

They say it is the weather, but we all know better. Too many Americans are too willing to sit at home and let someone else decide.

Let's see if we can change that statistic in Wayne County tomorrow -- just to prove a point.

Getting out to vote is your chance to have your say, to take a proactive role in your future.

It is not just a right. It is a responsibility.

Don't pass up the chance.
