ACA watch: As Obamacare begins, speak up about concerns, success

Many Americans, and more than a few of them in North Carolina, will have a ringside view of how the new Obamacare system is working -- or not working.

And while there will be many who will want to play up the strengths and downplay the weaknesses -- and vice versa -- it is critically important that someone in Washington deal with a concept many of those who work there seem to try to avoid.

The truth.

The health care argument is going to continue well into 2014 -- especially as the campaign season begins for the mid-term elections.

What we will need to know is not what the politicians say, but what the actual experiences have been for doctors, patients and health care professionals.

And to get that, someone will have to ask and someone will have to speak up.

This is no time to be shy. There is too much at stake.

Without the facts, it is not possible to come up with a plan that works and to know whom we should put in charge of leading that effort.

And that is 2014's most critical mission.
