April Grace Rains and Bryant Franklin Hill exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony Oct. 1, 2016, at 5:30 at First Baptist Church of Goldsboro, with Dr. Glenn Franklin Phillips Jr. officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Walter Bruce Rains III and Angela Ardis Clifton Rains of Goldsboro and the granddaughter of Grace Moore Rains and the late Walter Bruce Rains Jr. of Goldsboro and April Lyn Ardis and the late George Marion Ardis of Goldsboro. She is a 2010 graduate of Rosewood High School and a 2014 graduate of East Carolina University with a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education. She recently graduated from East Carolina again in 2016 with a Master of Science degree in counselor education. She was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha, Iota Rho Chapter at East Carolina. She is employed as school counselor in Wayne County public schools.

The groom is the son of David Bryant and Sidney Ricks Hill of Goldsboro and the grandson of the late Walter Bryant and Mildred Glover Hill of Goldsboro and the late Richard Sidney Ricks Jr. and Ola Lee Ricks of Goldsboro. He is a graduate of Charles B. Aycock High School in 2008 and a 2013 graduate of East Carolina University with a Bachelor of Science degree in public health. He is employed as a salesman at R.A. Jeffreys Distributing.

The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents. She wore a Maggie Sottero gown of ivory floral lace with a fit-and-flare silhouette accented by a classic sweetheart neckline, cascading delicate floral lace appliques and a chapel-length flared tulle skirt. It was finished with a corset closure.

Her headpiece was a fingertip veil of ivory tulle edged with lace, and she carried a hand-tied bouquet consisting of white roses, vendela roses, porcelina spray roses, seeded eucalyptus and white hydrangeas wrapped in ivory satin.

Mrs. Morgan Squatriglia McDonald served as matron of honor, while Miss Brittney Ashlyn McGill and Miss Kailey Victoria Adams were co-maids of honor. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Lindsey Hill Wooten, Mrs. Kate Price Rains, Miss Aubrey Lynn Sasser, and Mrs. Sarah Harrington Templeton and Mrs. Julia Melcher Allen.

Honorary Bridesmaids were Miss Ashley Brooke Ardis, cousin of the bride, and Mrs. Emily Ardis Paul, cousin of the bride.

Mr. David Bryant Hil served as best man. Groomsmen were Mr. Holt Dawson Rains, Mr. Graham John Wooten, Mr. Robert Wilson Phillips and Mr. Connor Reese Narron, Mr. Austin Conner Terrell, Mr. Cody Wayne Kirkham, Mr. David Wayne Templeton and Mr. Robert Taylor Allen.

Miss Fynleigh Caroline Paul was flower girl. Mr. John Bryant Wooten was ringbearer. Mr. and Mrs. Allen Wayne Williams directed the wedding.

A program of wedding music was provided by Miss Rachael Westbrook Kornegay and Miss Charlotte Evans Kornegay, vocalists; Mrs. Lisa Gardner Beasley, pianist; and Mrs. Paige Vickory Barwick, violinist. Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents hosted a reception at Walnut Creek Country Club. Dava Rose was director. Mrs. Susan Westbrook Kornegay and Mrs. Vicki Fitzpatrick greeted guests.

Events held before the wedding included a couples shower July 17 at B and G Grill hosted by family and friends of the bridal couple; a monogram shower Aug. 20 at the home of Kate Rains hosted by Kate Rains, Karon Miller and Kendall Burrage; a bridal shower Sept. 13 at Tommy’s Road Elementary hosted by co-workers of the bride; a bacherlotte weekend at Carolina Beach hosted by the matron and maids of honor; and a bachelor weekend in Myrtle Beach hosted by friends of the groom. The groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner Sept. 30 at Walnut Creek Country Club. After a wedding trip to Saint Johns, Antigua, the couple resides in Goldsboro.
