Teresa Dawson Everette and Leonard Compton IV of Goldsboro exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony July 2, 2016, at 1 p.m. at Greater Guiding Star Holy Church, with apostle Aaron McNair Sr. officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Luther and Remy Dawson of Goldsboro, N.C.

She is the granddaughter of the late Maude Smith Dawson of Goldsboro, N.C.

She is a graduate of Shaw University and Goldsboro High School.

She is a retired first sergeant with the United States Army.

She is currently employed as a teacher with the Wayne County Public Schools.

The groom is the son of Leonard Compton III of Fort Myers, Fla., and the late Ella Mae Bennett of Goldsboro, N.C.

He is a graduate of Original United Christian College and Goldsboro High School.

He is a veteran of the United States Army, and worked for more than 23 years with Time Warner Cable Co. He is currently employed in transportation.

The bride was escorted and given in marriage by her father, Luther Dawson.

The wedding colors consisted of royal blue, ivory, white and gray.

The bride wore a dress and headpiece of ivory with a lace overlay.

Jaynene Smith served as matron of honor, while Laurie Bain was maid of honor.

Bridesmaids were April Jones, Tonisa Evans, Malinda Hampton, Sophia Compton and Michelle Coley.

Rodney Jones served as best man.

Groomsmen were Dewarren Compton, Leonard Compton V, Leonard B. Compton, Curtis Jenkins, Vincent Moran and George Henry.

Bethany Compton and Zhykeeya Mickens were junior bridesmaids.

Nyla Compton was flower girl.

Christopher Dunn was ringbearer.

Mary Herring directed the wedding.

Royce Richardson, Crystal Bryant, Averil Williams, Roderick Herring and Brandy Smith provided prenuptial music and solos during the ceremony.

A reception was held at the Goldsboro Event Center, where music was provided by Marcellas Williams.

The catering was by Levy Smith and the cake by Mickey’s

Pastry of Goldsboro.

After a wedding trip to Florida, the couple resides in Goldsboro.
