Scarlett Hope Jackson of Mount Olive and Jonathan Glenn Jernigan of Mount Olive exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony Aug. 8, 2015, at 5:30 p.m. at Smith-Atkinson House in Smithfield, with the Rev. David Hollowell officiating.

The bride is the daughter of William Luther Jackson of Mount Olive and Veronica Hope Banning of Wilmington and the granddaughter of the late William Dexter and Joyce Daniels Jackson of Mount Olive, the late LA Wiggins of Mount Olive and Veronica Hope Sutton of Mount Olive.

She is a graduate of North Duplin High School and a graduate of Wayne Community College with an Associate in Business and Arts degree.

She is employed as secretary at Jackson Farming Co.

The groom is the son of William Glenn Jernigan of Goldsboro and Kristina Walton Hines of Mount Olive and the grandson of Carolyn Goodman Jernigan and the late William Sherwood Jernigan of Mount Olive and the late John B. and Mary Fulmer Walton of Mount Olive.

He is a graduate of North Duplin High School and Wyotech Institute of Pennsylvania with a degree in chassis design and engineering, street rod technology, and a graduate of Wayne Community College with an Associate in Applied Sciences.

He is employed as a collision and refinishing technologies instructor at Wayne Community College .

The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her father and mother.

She wore a sleeveless lace mermaid-style gown with eyelash trim detail and champagne underlining worn with a champagne belt adorned with crystals and pearls.

The bride wore a knee-length vintage French lace-trimmed veil that was worn by Jill Barwick Parks in her own wedding in memory of the close family friend.

The bride wore jewelry belonging to her paternal grandmother, Joyce Daniels Jackson, and maternal grandmother, Veronica Hope Sutton, in their memory.

The bride changed into a floral crown made of pink tea roses and baby’s breath with pink and ivory streamers for the reception.

The bride carried a loose, hand-tied bouquet of blush pink and ivory O’hara garden roses, blush stock, light pink spray roses and lisianthus and white astillbe wrapped in off white satin.

Morgan Parks Jackson, sister-in-law of the bride, served as matron of honor, while bridesmaids were Emily Benton, friend of the bride; Kelsey Rathbone, friend of the bride; and Skyler Parks, friend of the bride.

Jed Potter, friend of the groom, served as best man.

Groomsmen were Dex Jackson, brother of the bride; Drew Lesley, friend of groom and bride; Brandon Sutton, friend of the groom; and Jim Wells, friend of the groom.

Rylee Pate, cousin of the bride; Abbey Pate, cousin of the bride; Abbie Walton, cousin of the groom; Madison Walton, cousin of the groom; and Holly Jernigan, sister of the groom; were honorary bridesmaids.

Ushers were David Rutledge, friend of the groom, and Derick Waters, friend of the groom.

Lynn Scott of Happily Ever After Raleigh was wedding director and planner.

A sit down dinner reception with dancing afterward was given after the wedding ceremony by the bride’s parents at the same location, Smith-Atkinson House.

After a wedding trip to Myrtle Beach, S.C., the couple resides in Mount Olive.

The rehearsal dinner was given by the parents of the groom, Kris and Reggie Hines and Glenn Jernigan, at Sleepy Creek Clubhouse Friday, the night before the wedding.

Events held before the wedding included a bridal shower given June 20 by the bride’s paternal stepgrandmother, Helen Jackson, paternal great-aunt, Shirley Rudolph and aunt, Joy Pate at Faison United Methodist Church; another bridal shower given by the groom’s aunts, Kaye Thompson and Terrie Walton, and groom’s cousin, Jennifer Cunningham, June 27 at Garris Chapel United Methodist Church; a bachelorette party and lingerie shower given by bridesmaids in Emerald Isle, N.C., at the home of bridesmaids Emily Benton and Kelsey Rathbone the weekend of July 17; a bachelor party given by groomsmen Dex Jackson and Drew Lesley in Mount Olive the same weekend; a bridal party Low Country Boil given by family friends of the bride, Jamie and Scott Grady, at their home in Mount Olive July 25; a bridal luncheon given by close family friends, Sharon Jeanes, Carolyn Rathbone and Kelly Merritt, Aug. 1 at Chef Herb’s Bistro in Goldsboro; and a groomsmen’s breakfast given by mother of the groom, Kris Hines, at her home the morning of the wedding.
