Whitney Hunter Parker of Wilmington and Benjamin Gilbert Maher of Wilmington exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony Jan. 2, 2015, at 3:30 at Lollipop Bay in Wrightsville Beach, N.C., with the Rev. Marc Werner officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Ricky Brian and Mary Temple Wilson Parker of Fairmont and the granddaughter of Trenton and Lucy Ivey Parker of Fairmont, the late Jack Thomas Wilson of Salisbury and Elizabeth Coursey Wilson of Salisbury.

She is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Wilmington with a bachelor of arts degree in elementary education and a master’s degree in language and literacy. She is employed as a second grade teacher at Cape Fear Elementary School in Rocky Point.

The groom is the son of Brian Paul and Jessye Hollowell Maher of Goldsboro, the grandson of the late Fred Jesse and Margaret Walker Maher of Dennis, Mass., and the late Adron Gilbert Hollowell and Louise Hollowell Butler of Goldsboro and stepgrandson of the late Earl Tyson Butler of Goldsboro.

He is a graduate of Cape Fear Community College with a degree in marine technology. He is employed as assistant engineer working on a research vessel in Chauvin, La.

The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.

She wore an empire gown of white charmeuse featuring a hand embroidered lace shrug, and was complemented by a fingertip veil. The bride carried a hand-tied bouquet of lilies, roses and hydrangeas. Pinned to her gown was an antique turquoise pendent that belonged to the groom’s maternal grandmother.

Kathyrn Elizabeth Musselwhite of Wrightsville Beach was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Mallory Caroline Cunningham of Raleigh; Kelly Elizabeth Floyd of Lumberton; Caitlin Wilson Hebble of Naples, Fla., cousin of the bride; Sara Hunter Hebble of Charleston, S.C., cousin of the bride; Jamie Melissa Simmons of Bel Air, Md.; and Katherine Elizabeth Waring of Florence, S.C. Halli, the bride’s pet canine, was flower bearer.

William Brian Maher of Goldsboro, brother of the groom, served as best man.

Groomsmen were Kyle David Bucher of Raleigh; Andrew Justin Eberst of Raleigh; Adron Gilbert Hollowell II of Boone, cousin of the groom; William Jordan Hughes of Portland, Ore.; Jared Walters Stone of Suffolk, Va.; and Daniel Oscar Suncin of Raleigh. Honorary groomsmen were Charles Joseph Heffron IV of Spartanburg, S.C., cousin of the bride, and John Tucker Heffron of Charleston, S.C., cousin of the bride.

Jan Tedder-Rogers of Fairmont decorated and directed the bay wedding.

Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents hosted a reception at Lollipop Bay in Wrightsville Beach, N.C. Music was provided by Ethan Andrew Hanson.

After a wedding trip to Orlando, Fla., the couple resides in Wilmington, N.C.

Events included an engagement party at the home of Alan and Cathy Hollowell hosted by family and friends; a bachelorette weekend held in Wrightsville Beach hosted by Kathyrn Musselwhite and the bridesmaids; a winter bridal shower at the home of Jan Tedder-Rogers hosted by Jan and Resa Pittman in Fairmont; a bridal shower hosted by the bride’s co-workers held at Cape Fear Elementary School in Rocky Point; and a bachelor weekend held in Myrtle Beach, S.C., hosted by Will Hughes and the groomsmen.

The groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner Jan. 1 at the River Room in Wilmington, N.C.
