Amanda Leigh Schlaeppi of Goldsboro, N.C., and Travis Alan Davis of Goldsboro, N.C., exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony Aug. 9, 2014, at 5:30 in the evening at United in Christ Church, with the Rev. Gary Bailey officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Hector Pedraza of Goldsboro, N.C., and the late Mr. Christopher Schlaeppi of Cove City, N.C.

The bride is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Shelton Rhodes of Goldsboro, N.C., Mr. Sidney Webber of Goldsboro, N.C., and the late Mr. and Mrs. Ferdinand Schlaeppi of Cove City, N.C.

The groom is the son of Mr. Terry Davis and Ms. Cathy Gurley of Goldsboro, N.C.

The groom is the grandson of Mrs. Phyllis Gurley and the late Mr. R.L. Gurley of Goldsboro, N.C., and Ms. Arlene Smith of Goldsboro, N.C.

Amanda graduated from Charles B. Aycock High School in 2007 and from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington in 2011 with a degree in elementary education.

Travis graduated from Wayne Country Day in 2007, and then the University of North Carolina at Wilmington in 2011 with a degree in sports and tourism management.

The bride wore a chic La Sposa Mullett bridal gown by Pronovias from the 2013 collection.

The elegant mermaid dress was adorned with lace appliques, dainty beading and a sweetheart neckline to emphasize the blushing bride.

The mermaid skirt was embellished with scalloped lace trim and flowed into a chapel-length train.

The bride wore a simple sheer veil with delicate crystal beading on the trim.

The bride’s sister and best friend, Miss Caroline Renee Schlaeppi of Goldsboro, N.C,. was the maid of honor.

Bridesmaids were Mrs. Heather Jones Floyd of Raleigh, N.C., Miss Erin Danielle Medford of Goldsboro, N.C., Miss Janie Lynn Dowda of West New York, N.Y., Miss Jessica Lynn Toomer of West New York, N.Y., Miss Ashley Elizabeth Berting of Eden, N.C., and the groom’s sister, Miss Celeste Marie Davis of Goldsboro, N.C.

Mr. Terry Davis from Goldsboro, N.C., the groom’s father, served as best man.

Groomsmen were the groom’s brother, Mr. Brandon Davis of Goldsboro, N.C., Mr. Jimmie Gaukler of Wilmington, N.C., Mr. Spenser Briggs of Goldsboro, N.C., the bride’s brother, Mr. Michael Pedraza from Raleigh, N.C., Mr. Miles Bryan of Nashville, Tenn., and Mr. Thomas Gillespie of Pittsburgh, Pa.

Mia Katherine Pedraza and Millie Malone Pedraza of Raleigh, N.C., nieces of the bride, were flower girls.

Jonathan Luke Deaver of Goldsboro, N.C., cousin of the bride, was the ringbearer.

Dawn Gardner of Goldsboro, N.C., directed the wedding.

A program of wedding music was provided by Kim Honeycutt of Goldsboro, N.C., and Annabelle Clifton of Goldsboro, N.C.

The rehearsal dinner was hosted by the groom’s family at the home of Mr. and Mrs. K.C. Gurley in Fremont, N.C.

The reception was hosted by the bride’s parents, Dr. and Mrs. Hector Pedraza, at their home in Pikeville, N.C.

Events that were held before the wedding included a bridal shower that was given by the bride’s colleagues in Wilmington, N.C.; a lingerie shower that was given by the bridesmaids; a couple’s shower that was hosted by Mr. and Mrs. John Webber, the bride’s uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Lucas Deaver, the bride’s cousins, and Mrs. Elizabeth Golimowski, the bride’s aunt; and a couple’s shower that was given by the groom’s aunts, Phyllis Summerlin, Kim Smith, Karen Adams, and the groom’s grandmother Arlene Smith.

After a wedding trip to Cancun, Mexico, the couple will reside in Greenville, N.C., where the groom is employed by East Carolina University Police Department and the bride is employed by Pitt County Schools.
