Sarah Rebecca Schwartz of Goldsboro and John Majette Seegars of Goldsboro exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony May 4 at 5 p.m. at Saint Paul United Methodist Church in Goldsboro, with the Rev. James Harry officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Henry Herbert and Rebecca Westbrook Monson of Four Oaks and George Mehl and Mary Schwartz of Newton Grove and the granddaughter of Nellie Thornton Westbrook and the late James Worth Westbrook Sr. of Four Oaks and George Mehl and Esther Schwartz of Cape May Court House, N.J.

She is a 2004 graduate of North Carolina State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in business management. She is employed as a financial center leader at BB&T in Goldsboro.

The groom is the son of Neal Weston and Jacque Waters Seegars of Goldsboro and the grandson of Peggy Majette Seegars and the late Neal Washington Seegars of Goldsboro and Dick and Mary Randolph Arnold of Rocky Mount.

He attended North Carolina State University, and was awarded the Eagle Scout in 1998. He is employed as director of sales at Seegars Fence Co. in Goldsboro.

The bride was escorted by Henry Herbert Monson and given in marriage by her parents.

She wore an ivory re-embroidered lace strapless corset bodice trumpet gown with a hand-appliqued lace skirt. Her veil was a long cathedral-length Alencon lace veil with a scalloped lace edge and thick re-embroidered lace along the bottom.

The bride carried a clutch-style bouquet of white peonies, hydrangea and Virginia roses accented with chartreuse coffee beans and bound with an antique white ribbon.

Annah Westbrook Schwartz, sister of the bride, was maid of honor.

Bridesmaids were Sallie Seegars Batchelor of Summerfield, sister of the groom; Maria Herring Holler of Raleigh, friend of the bride; Yorke Denning Johnson of Benson, friend of the bride; Jenny Westbrook Jones of Four Oaks, cousin of the bride; Elizabeth Herring Rogers of Clinton, friend of the bride; Rebecca Tayloe Seegars of Goldsboro, sister in law of the groom; Emily Westbrook Thornton of Four Oaks, cousin of the bride; and Audrey Elizabeth Westbrook of Raleigh, cousin of the bride.

Neal Weston Seegars, father of the groom, served as best man.

Groomsmen were Robert Dean Batchelor of Summerfield, brother-in-law of the groom; Alfred Benjamin Goodrich II of Raleigh, friend of the groom; Daniel Ray Holmes of Greenville, friend of the groom; Emery Donald Ivey of Goldsboro, friend of the groom; Scott Olen Lafevers of Goldsboro, friend of the groom; Marc Brendan Lutcavage of Raleigh, friend of the groom; Jeffrey Paul Nunn of Greenville, friend of the groom; and Benjamin Weston Seegars of Goldsboro, brother of the groom. Ushers were Hunter Lee Steed of Greenville, friend of the groom, and Darryl Ross Kennedy of Winston-Salem, friend of the groom.

Ringbearers were Maxwell Dean Batchelor, Benjamin Weston Seegars Jr. and Gray Tayloe Seegars, nephews of the groom.

Shelia Warrick directed the wedding. Presiding at the register were Mr. and Mrs. Jeremiah James Daniels. James Worth Westbrook III and Stephen Michael Westbrook, cousins of the bride, distributed programs.

Woody Campbell, was vocalist.

Alice Campbell was organist.

Jane Yeager played the violin. Karen Bessey played the violin. Josh Doggett played the viola. Barbara Gates played the cello. Kevin Day played the trumpet.

Following the ceremony, a reception, hosted by bride’s parents, was held at Goldsboro Country Club. Reception greeters were Mr. and Mrs. William Thomas Herring II of Newton Grove. Reception director was Mrs. James Canady Parker of Goldsboro.

After a wedding trip to Italy, the couple resides in Goldsboro, N.C.

A rehearsal dinner was hosted by the groom’s parents at Walnut Creek Country Club. Cocktails and dancing was held afterward, hosted by friends of the family. Music was provided by Sleeping Booty Band

Events held before the wedding included an engagement party hosted by family and friends at Seegars Family Racetrack Hunt Club Nov. 3, 2012; a shower March 2, 2013, at the home of Marilyn Wester, aunt of the groom, hosted by friends and family of the groom; a shower March 10, 2013, at the home of Kay Westbrook, aunt of the bride, hosted by family of the bride; a shower April 25, 2013, hosted by co-workers at BB&T; a bridesmaids’ luncheon May 3, 2013, at the home of Sharon Herring hosted by Herring and Sylvia Herring; and a wedding day brunch for the bridesmaids at the home of Steve and Betty Smith by Brenda Warren and Brenda Raynor.
