Kelsey Gayle Curls of Live Oak, Fla., and Jeremiah David Newsome of Kenly exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony Oct. 20, 2012, at 5 p.m. at Mandi’s Chapel at Camp Weed in Live Oak, Fla., with Phillip Herrington officiating.

The bride is the daughter of the Rev. Darrell and Donna Byrd Curls of Live Oak, Fla., and the granddaughter of Betty and Frank McGraw of Newberry, Fla., the late Gene Curls of Alachua, Fla., Miram Byrd of Live Oak and the late O.W. Byrd of Alachua, Fla.

She is a 2010 graduate of Suwannee High School in Live Oak.

The groom is the son of Leonard Mark and Regina Hargrove Newsome of Kenly and the grandson of Lou Newsome Sasser and the late Leonard McCoy Newsome of Goldsboro and John and Faye Hargrove of Mount Olive.

The groom is a 2005 graduate of Charles B. Aycock High School in Pikeville and a 2010 graduate of Appalachian State University in Boone. He is employed as a field crew supervisor at Geographic Technologies Group in Goldsboro.

The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.

She wore an A-line satin gown with a sweetheart bodice, illusion cap sleeves and a back covered in beaded lace with covered buttons down the back. The skirt had ruching up on the left hip and trailed in the back.

Her headpiece was a gathering of net adorned with a pearl and crystal brooch, and she wore dark plum peep toed satin shoes. Her bouquet was a hand-tied bouquet of orange roses, green hydrangeas and dark purple calla lilies and caspia.

Sheridan Curls, sister of the bride, and Emma Tillman, friend of the bride, were the maids of honor. Bridesmaids were Abby Wotton, Celia Bass and Dee Sardina, friends of the bride.

Leonard Mark Newsome, father of the groom, served as best man. Groomsmen were Jordan Evans, Jordan Lewis, Josh Jurius and Nathan Phillips, friends of the groom.

Jaylen Thompson, the bride’s nephew, and Noah Hoyle, the groom’s nephew, were ringbearers.

Sylvia Taylor directed the wedding. Katlyn Hargrove distributed programs. Kalie Riveria was the guitarist and vocalist.

Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents hosted an outdoor reception at Sperring Farm in Live Oak.

After a wedding trip to Bryson City, the couple resides in Pikeville.

The groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at the Women’s Club in Live Oak Oct. 19, 2012.

Events held before the wedding included a couple’s shower hosted by the groom’s family at Goldsboro Worship Center Aug. 11, 2012; a shower hosted by the bride’s sister Aug. 25, 2012, at Lake Louise Clubhouse in Live Oak; and a shower for the couple hosted by Sylvia Taylor Sept. 29, 2012, at her home in Live Oak, Fla.
