Smith-Harnden
Carrie Jennings Smith of Raleigh and Christopher Charles Harnden of Raleigh exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony Sept. 22, 2012, at 3 p.m. at Duck United Methodist Church, with Dr. John Tyson officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Alton Glenn Smith Jr. and Christie Thorne Smith of Goldsboro and the granddaughter of Ethel Smith and the late Alton Glenn Smith Sr. of Goldsboro, Iris Thorne of Goldsboro and the late Wallace Thorne of Goldsboro.
She is a graduate of Rosewood High School and North Carolina State University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in business management. She is employed as marketing manager at L and M Companies of Raleigh.
The groom is the son of Charles Harnden of Hershey, Pa., and Linda Watson of Hummeltown, Pa., and the grandson of Betty Harry and the late Charles Harnden Sr. of Hershey and Arlene Long and the late Roy Long of Hershey.
He graduated from Hershey High School and North Carolina State University, earning a Bachelor of Science in technology education. He is employed as CAD technician at HDR Engineering in Raleigh.
The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.
She wore a sleeveless candlelight sheath of crinkled chiffon made with a deep V neckline, shirred empire waist band and a layered ruffled skirt.
She wore white roses and sea holly in her hair.
Bridesmaids were Brooke Boyle Hedrick and Lehua Pommerenk Debnar, who wore long empire style Jersey dresses of aqua and coral.
Patrick Harnden, twin brother of groom, served as best man.
Junior bridesmaids were Elizabeth, Claire and Laura Agius, nieces of the groom, and Kate Petty and Logan Brown, nieces of the bride. They wore matching aqua chiffon dresses.
Ushers were Adam Phillips and Joseph Hutton
A tent reception was held in the sound-side garden of Sunset Retreat. The buffet dinner was followed by dancing. Wedding cakes were made by Lehua Debnar, bridesmaid and friend of the couple.
The couple will reside in Raleigh.
The rehearsal dinner was hosted by the groom’s parents at Aqua restaurant in Duck.
Events held before the wedding included an engagement party given by friends of the couple at the home of Brooke and Scott Hedrick; a dinner/shower given by Leann and John Oxford of Raleigh; and a shower hosted by the women of Pine Forest Church in Rosewood.
