Kali Renee’ Smith and Michael Everett Cruse exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony Oct. 7, 2012, at 6 p.m. at the Magnolia Manor Plantation Bed and Breakfast in Warrenton, with the Rev. Ronnie Weaver officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Billy Gerald Smith of LaGrange. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Wayne Smith of Shine, Mrs. Millie Stevens Smith of Goldsboro, Mr. Ed Smith of Live Oak, Fla., and Lt. Col. and Mrs. George Ronnie Rose of Baton Rouge, La. She is the great-granddaughter of Mrs. Thelma Smith of Shine.

She is an honor graduate of Eastern Wayne High School and a summa cum laude graduate of Winston-Salem State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing. She will attend East Carolina University College of Nursing nurse anesthesia program for her master’s degree in January. She is employed as a registered nurse in the intensive care unit of Wayne Memorial Hospital.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Craig Smith and the late Mr. Kenneth Everett Cruse of Goldsboro. He is the grandson of Mrs. Grace Cruse and the late Mr. Milton Cruse of Goldsboro, the late Mr. Bill Coker of LaGrange, the Rev. and Mrs. Roney Bunn of Bailey and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Lee Smith of Goldsboro.

He is a graduate of Eastern Wayne High School. He attended Wayne Community College, and is employed as an operations tech at Piedmont Natural Gas.

The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.

She wore an ivory strapless silk taffeta gown with a modified sweetheart neckline. The fitted bodice was enhanced with Alencon lace and accentuated with a shirred taffeta waistline. It featured a scoop back with covered buttons, which reached the end of the ballgown skirt that flowed into a sweep train.

She wore her mother’s cathedral-length veil, which was adorned with an embroidered Alencon lace flower motif encrusted with pearls.

The bride carried a clutch bouquet of flowers wrapped with burlap ribbon and tied with twine that held small framed pictures of loved ones who have passed. In her pocket she carried the wedding bands of the groom’s mother and late father.

Brandi Smith, sister of the bride, was maid of honor.

Beckett Cruse, son of the groom, served as ring bearer and best man.

A program of wedding music was provided by Tom Billotto, guitarist.

Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents held a dinner and dance reception at the Carriage House Pavilion located at the bed and breakfast.

After a wedding trip to Key West, Fla., the couple resides in Goldsboro.

The groom’s mother and stepfather hosted a rehearsal dinner Oct. 6 at their home.

Events held before the wedding included an engagement party July 14 at the home of Brian and Ashley Corbett hosted by friends of the couple; a lingerie shower Aug. 23 at the home of Matthew and Michelle Frost hosted by Michelle Frost and Judy Smith; a stock-the-bar party and dinner Sept. 15 at the home of Kyle and Kelli Corbett hosted by the Corbetts; a bachelorette weekend Sept. 21 through 23 in Charleston, S.C., hosted by Brandi Smith; a bachelor weekend Sept. 28 through 30 in Myrtle Beach, S.C., hosted by Kyle Corbett; and a miscellaneous bridal shower Sept. 30 at Coker Memorial Church hosted by family and friends.
