Britney Nicole Rigsbee of Goldsboro and Blake Anthony Howell of Goldsboro exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony May 7 at 3 p.m. at Mount Carmel United Methodist Church in Pikeville, with the Rev. David Hollowell and the Rev. Rose C. Hicks officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Robert McKenzie of Florence, S.C., and Janie Todd of Chimney Rock, the stepdaughter of Rachel McKenzie and Russell Todd and the granddaughter Gloria Horne of Florence, S.C.

She is a 2007 honor graduate of Charles B. Aycock High School and attends Wayne Community College for nursing degree. She is employed as assistant manager at Chic-Fil-A.

The groom is the son of Tony Howell of Fremont and Hope Hicks Porter of Goldsboro, the stepson of Darlene Howell and Ed Porter and the grandson of the late Herbie and Louise Howell of Fremont and Ray C. Hicks and Rose C. Hicks of Pikeville .

He is a 2003 graduate of Rosewood High School, and a 2007 graduate of Wayne Community College with an associate degree. He attends Mount Olive College for degree in business. He is employed as a customer service representative at Pate Dawson Co.

The bride was escorted by her brother, Tony Sullivan, and given in marriage by her family.

She wore a satin A-line gown with a detachable cap sleeves, a chiffon split front overlay, metallic embroidery and a chapel train.

The bride carried a bouquet of white roses, lilies and daisies.

Kristin Wise was maid of honor.

Bridesmaids were Faith Dotter, Amber Patterson and Tiffany Munden.

Tony Howell was best man.

Groomsmen were Jonathan Dotter, Matthew Casey and Justin Lancaster.

Ushers were Jonathan Dotter and Matthew Casey.

Danielle Taylor was flower girl.

Darlene Thigpen directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Natalie Davis. Kayla Patrick distributed programs.

Special helpers were Gary Thigpen, Sterling Thigpen, and Scrap and Joyce White.

A program of wedding music was provided by Tom Casey and Hope Porter, pianists; Tony Sullivan and Darlene Howell, vocalists; Tony Howell, guitarist; and Wesley Wooten, sound technician.

Following the ceremony, Mr. and Mrs. Gary Thigpen, Sterling Thigpen, Joyce White and family and friends held a reception at the church fellowship hall.

After their wedding trip to Pigeon Forge, Tenn., the couple will reside in Pikeville.

Events held before the wedding included a bridal shower April 3 at New Hope United Methodist Church hosted by Jill Carden, Lainey Jacobs, Cyndi Acree and friends; a bridal shower April 17 hosted by Darlene Howell and family; and a wedding shower April 24 at Chick-Fil-A hosted by her co-workers.

Tony and Darlene Howell hosted a rehearsal dinner May 7 at Murphy’s.
