Stroud - Payne
Kristin Denise Payne of Raleigh and Scott Thomas Stroud of Raleigh exchanged vows April 2 at 5 p.m. at Fairmont United Methodist Church in Raleigh, with pastor Steve Hickle officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Richard Errol and Frances Denise Payne of Mount Airy and the granddaughter of Robert and Frances Richardson and the late Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Eugene Payne of Mount Airy.
She graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a bachelor’s degree in business administration and North Carolina Central University School of Law with a juris doctorate. She is employed as an attorney with Rosen Law Firm.
The groom is the son of Reginald Lee and Maidred Morris Stroud of Kinston and the grandson of the late Leo Clayton and Gladys Duncan Stroud and the late Joseph Thomas and Sallie Pittman Morris.
He graduated from North Carolina State University with a bachelor’s degree in business management and Campbell University School of Law with a juris doctorate. He is employed as an assistant attorney general with the North Carolina Department of Justice.
The bride was escorted and given in marriage by her father.
Lauren Payne of Charlotte and Morgan Payne of Mount Airy were their sister’s maids of honor.
Bridesmaids were Stephanie White of Kinston, sister of the groom; Meredith Robertson of Raleigh, friend of the bride; and Robin Gwyn of Mount Airy, aunt of the bride.
Reginald Stroud was his son’s best man.
Groomsmen were Stuart Stroud of Kinston, brother of the groom; Len White of Kinston, brother-in-law of the groom; and James Perry of Kinston, Jamison Blizzard of Raleigh and Jon Wright of Denver, Colo., friends of the groom.
Kelli Stroud of Kinston, sister-in-law of the groom, was a reader.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held at Cardinal Club.
After their wedding trip to Montego Bay, Jamaica, the couple will reside in Raleigh.
Events held before the wedding included a pig picking at the home of Len and Stephanie White hosted by the Whites and Stuart and Kelli Stroud; a coffee and dessert engagement party at the home of Reginald and Maidred Stroud hosted by the Strouds; a bridal luncheon at The Picnic Basket in Kinston hosted by Ann Sutton; a bridal shower given by Dorcas Circle of Southwood Memorial Christian Church; an engagement dinner/dance and bridal brunch at Cross Creek Country Cub in Mt. Airy hosted by Richard and Denise Payne; and a bridesmaids’ luncheon given at the home of George and Carolyn Morris hosted by Rebecca Morris of Wilmington and Carolyn Morris of Garner.
The groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner and dance April 1 at North Carolina State University Club.
