Michelle Day Johnson of Smithfield and Michael Sell of Raleigh exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony Oct. 9 at 1 p.m. at Wilson’s Mills Baptist Church, with pastor Billie Lawson officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Jake and Norma Johnson of Goldsboro.

She is a graduate of Faith Christian Academy and North Carolina Wesleyan College. She is employed as an information technology network security specialist at the North Carolina Depart-ment of Revenue in Raleigh.

The groom is the son of Patricia Sell and the late John A. Sell of Raleigh.

He is a graduate of North Carolina State University. He is employed as a senior property specialist at North Carolina Farm Bureau Mutual Insurance Co.

The bride was escorted by her father and presented in marriage by her parents.

She wore a white taffeta strapless gown with an elongated waistline. The bodice was enhanced with diagonal ruching that continued to the back of the gown. It featured a button back and lace with detailed beading and a chapel-length train.

The bride carried a white rose bouquet.

Syvonne Callahan directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Barbara Bostian.

A program of wedding music was provided by Beth Cooke, vocalist.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held. Tricia Waller poured punch. Maria Settanni and Barbara Bostian served the wedding cake.

After their wedding cruise to the eastern and western Caribbean, the couple will reside in Smithfield.

Events held before the wedding included an engagement party May 1 hosted by the bride’s parents.
