Stephanie Rene Smith and Michael Geoffrey Sauls of Goldsboro exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony July 31 at 3 p.m. at Lane Tree Golf Club, with pastor Travis Smith officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Jeff and Shari Smith of Pikeville and the granddaughter of Billy Smith, the late Bettie Smith and Lonnie and Mildred Rast of Goldsboro.

She is a 2007 graduate of Wayne Christian School and a 2010 graduate of Wayne Community College with an associate degree in nursing. She is employed as a registered nurse at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

The groom is the son of Mike and Sherry Sauls of LaGrange and the grandson of Malissa Sauls, the late Solly Sauls and Gerald and Lucy Underhill of Goldsboro.

He is a 2006 graduate of Eastern Wayne High School and a 2008 graduate of Wilson Technical Community College with a certification in firefighting. He is employed as a firefighter with the city of Goldsboro.

The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.

She wore a lace trumpet gown with a beaded empire waist and a pleated satin bodice with a sweetheart neckline.

Her headpiece was a fingertip-length veil with a rhinestone hairclip.

The bride carried a hand-tied bouquet of hot pink roses and peonies.

Michelle Krug was her friend’s maid of honor.

Bridesmaids were Jamye Tyndall, Bethany Braswell and Emily Corbett, all friends of the bride, and Crystal Hepburn, cousin of the bride.

Mike Sauls was his son’s best man.

Groomsmen were Stephen Mooring, cousin of the groom; Cody Britt, friend of the groom; Jacob Sauls, brother of the groom; and Chris Smith, brother of the bride.

Leia Mokus, friend of the couple, was flower girl. Trent Mokus, friend of the couple, was ringbearer.

Trudi Rast, cousin of the bride, directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Jessica Smith, cousin of the bride.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held at Lane Tree Golf Club. Jerri Mooring, aunt of the groom, and Renee Mooring, cousin of the groom, cut the wedding cake. Joanie Peterson, cousin of the bride, and Carol Wadford, aunt of the bride, poured punch.

After their wedding trip to Myrtle Beach, S.C., the couple will reside in Goldsboro.

Events held before the wedding included a miscellaneous shower May 8 at Goldsboro Worship Center hosted by Crystal Hepburn and Carol Wadford; a miscellaneous shower June 19 at Food Lion hosted by Betty Hayes and Loretta Quinn; and a lingerie shower July 16 hosted by Michelle Krug.

The groom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner July 30 at Stoney Creek Church.
