Stacy Shavonne Shepard and Julian Michael Whitney of Goldsboro exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony June 18 at 6:15 p.m. at Lane Tree Country Club, with apostle Walter Barbour officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Edward Earl and Evelyn Braswell Shepard of Goldsboro and the granddaughter of the late Jesse and Victoria Shepherd of Selma and the late Lorenzo Braswell Sr. and Mary Omega Braswell of Goldsboro.

She is a 1997 graduate of Goldsboro High School, 2001 graduate of North Carolina Central University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and a 2008 graduate of Central Michigan University with a Master of Arts degree in administration. She is employed as a seventh-grade language arts teacher with Wayne County Public Schools.

The groom is the son of Michael R. of Lebanon, Tenn., and Kwi-cha Whitney of Goldsboro and the grandson of the late Roger and Mary Whitney of Glens Falls, N.Y., and the late Kilsun Lee and Sang Kim of Seoul Korea.

He is a 1996 graduate of Eastern Wayne High School and attends the University of Phoenix for a Bachelor of Science degree. He is employed as a fire engineer at the city of Goldsboro Fire Department.

The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.

She wore an ivory strapless satin gown with re-embroidered laced crystal beading and sequins adorning the fitted empire bodice with a lettuce green trim. The full A-line skirt flowed to a semi-cathedral train that was trimmed with a lettuce green insert accented with lace and beaded embroidery.

Her headpiece was a silver tiara accented with diamonds and pearls.

The bride carried chrysanthemums and roses accented with pearls.

Lashaundon Smith was maid of honor.

Bridesmaids were Tiffany Booker, Patrice Hill, Tesha Isler and Jamie Smith, friends of the bride, and Maria Whitney, sister of the groom.

Harold Isler Jr. was the best man.

Groomsmen were Ralph Barrett, Hezakiah Jones and Alvin Ward, friends of the groom, and Edward Jermaine Shepard and Rodrick Shepard, brothers of the bride.

Ushers were sorors of the bride.

Daysia Whitney, daughter of the groom, was the junior bridesmaid.

Destiny Isler, friend of the couple, and Jordin Whitney, daughter of the groom, were flower girls. Desmond Vaughn, godson of the bride, was ringbearer.

O’Linda Hamilton directed the wedding. Hostesses and distributing programs were Tamaya Davis, Lori Lawson, Damesha Smith and Jonelle Stovall, sorors of the bride.

A program of wedding music was provided by Alex White, friend of the bride, pianist; Edward J. Shepard, brother of the bride, and Hahn Young Ha, friend of the groom, vocalists; and Charles Raiford, DJ.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held at Lane Tree Country Club.

After their wedding trip to the Poconos, Myrtle Beach, S.C., Virginia, Washington, D.C., and New York, the couple will reside in Goldsboro.

Events held before the wedding included a lingerie shower hosted by the bride’s mother and aunts; a bachelorette party hosted by Tesha Isler and Jamie Smith; a shower hosted by co-workers; and a gift card shower hosted by Lashaundon Smith and Trammonieo Cooper.

A rehearsal dinner was held at the home of the bride’s parents.
