Mrs. Patrick Mayo

Kristin Louise Shearin and Patrick Daniel Mayo exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony July 24 at 5 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Ryan Rasmussen officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Malcolm Nelson Shearin of Goldsboro and the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lee Sasser Jr. of Goldsboro and the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Nelson Shearin of Murfreesboro.

She is a graduate of the University of North Carolina School of the Arts with a Bachelor of Music degree and East Carolina University with a Master of Arts degree in teaching English. She is employed by Wayne County Public Schools as a high school English teacher at Charles B. Aycock High School.

The groom is the son of Dr. Philip Douglas Mayo of Goldsboro and Colleen Snitzel of Scarborough, Maine, and the grandson of Carol Mayo and the late Edmund Mayo of Westmont, N.J., and Jeraldine Kearney and the late Floran Kearney of Lebanon, Pa.

He is a graduate of East Carolina University with a Bachelor of Science degree in industrial technology and attends UAT Arizona for a Master of Science degree in information assurance. He is employed at 3 Essentials Web Hosting.

The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents.

She wore an ivory gown with a halter top. The satin bodice was adorned with sequins and pearls. The gown ended in a ballgown-style skirt of layered tulle.

Her headpiece was an ivory elbow-length one-tiered veil embellished with pearls and sequins.

The bride carried a hand-tied clutch bouquet of Dutch iris, stock and caspia.

Mary Jewel Casey was her cousin’s maid of honor.

Bridesmaids were Christian Grace Brogneaux of Goldsboro and Sarah Bruckner Wall of Winterville.

Paul Douglas VanDusen of Goldsboro was best man.

Groomsmen were Joshua James Hayes and Tim Ray Sauls of Goldsboro.

Benjamin Joseph Mayo, brother of the groom, was the usher.

Alison Price, friend of the groom’s family, was the flower girl.

Phyllis Patterson directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Debby Sasser, aunt of the bride. Jill Sasser, aunt of the bride, distributed

programs.

A program of wedding music was provided by Dr. Jeremy Thompson, organist; Daniel Arnette, flautist; and Thomas Shaw, vocalist.

Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents hosted a reception at Goldsboro Country Club. Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Shaw greeted guests.

After their wedding trip to Florida and a cruise to the Cayman Islands, the couple will reside in Goldsboro.

Events held before the wedding included a reception April 3 at Walnut Creek Country Club hosted by Lynne and Thomas Shaw; a miscellaneous shower April 5 hosted by the bride’s aunts, Jill and Debby Sasser; a bridal shower June 27 at First Presbyterian Church hosted by Kathy Best, Helen Jernigan, Mary Paparazo and Candice Whitley; and a bachelorette party July 7 through 9 in Raleigh hosted by the bridesmaids.

Dr. and Mrs. Philip Mayo hosted a rehearsal dinner July 23 at Ruby Tuesday.
