Kenesha LaVette Jackson and Corey Simmons of Goldsboro exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony July 17 at 4 p.m. at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, with pastor Timothy Whitfield officiating.

The bride is the daughter of Curtis and Annette Edwards of Goldsboro and John Jackson of Austell, Ga., and the granddaughter of Minnie Gillis of Goldsboro.

She is a graduate of Southern Wayne High School and North Carolina A&T State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology. She is employed as a biology teacher with Wayne County Public Schools.

The groom is the son of Queen Simmons and the late Fess Simmons and the grandson of the late Flossie Sauls and the late John Artis of Snow Hill and the late Mr. and Mrs. Herman Simmons of Goldsboro.

He is a graduate of Eastern Wayne High School and attended Johnston Community College. He is employed as a tech II fractionation technician at Talecris Biotherapeutics.

The bride was escorted by her mother and given in marriage by her parents.

She wore a strapless princess gown embellished with a crystal-beaded bodice with a tulle cathedral train with crystal beading.

Her headpiece was a chapel-length veil with a tiara.

The bride carried a hand-tied bouquet of fuchsia roses accented with crystals.

LaTonya Jackson Clark of Greensboro was her sister’s matron of honor.

Bridesmaids were Freda J. Allen, Paulette Darden of Hampton, Va., and Debara Williams, friends of the bride.

Gerald Simmons was his brother’s best man.

Groomsmen were Byron Bennett of Clayton, friend of the groom; Cedric Clark of Greensboro, brother-in-law of the bride; and Jeremy Edwards, brother of the bride.

Ushers were Derek Braswell of Raleigh, nephew of the groom, and Alex Spears of Clayton, friend of the groom.

Kiara Hall of Kinston, cousin of the bride, was the junior bridesmaid. Malik Bizzell, cousin of the bride, was the junior groomsman.

Ciara Clark of Greensboro, niece of the bride, was flower girl. Cameron Clark of Greensboro, nephew of the bride, was ringbearer.

Damesha Smith directed the wedding. Presiding at the register and greeting guests was Ashley Preston of Durham. Presiding at the registry and gift table was Nadia Jones, friend of the bride. Teresa Berens and Benisha Ward, friends of the bride, and Shenica Eatmon, niece of the groom, distributed the wedding programs.

Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents hosted a reception at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base Community Center.

After their wedding trip to Miami, Fla., the couple will reside in Goldsboro.

Events held before the wedding included a bridal shower May 15 at the home of Wendy Jones hosted by the Southern Wayne varsity cheerleaders; a bachelor party June 18 in Raleigh hosted by Duran Davis, friend of the groom; a bachelorette party July 15 hosted by LaTonya Jackson Clark; and a bridal shower at Southern Wayne High School hosted by Freda J. Allen and Paulette Darden.

Wedding party assistant was Pamela Braswell, sister of the groom.

Carolyn Core and Pamela Braswell, sisters of the groom, hosted a rehearsal dinner at Poplar Street Apartments Clubhouse.
